Brunton Raptor Foldable Stove Review
Despite of not being the most lightweight canister stove on the market, the Brunton Raptor stove is an impressive stove for backpacking. It only weights 5oz, so it is not really so heavy. The majority of backpackers, except perhaps those obsessed with ultra-light trips, will find the Raptor reasonably light. Another good feature of the Brunton Raptor is that it is compact when folded. You can carry it into a mug without problem thanks to its folding pot supports. It comes with a piezo electric lighter for those who can't find their matches during their trips. It is simple to set up and use, it burns with a very hot output that you can simmer when needed, and requires no priming! A great choice for the price.
Of course, there are many backpacking canisters stoves on the market, some of them good, some of them less so. And the final choice you will make depends on a number of factors, like your backpacking style, budget and likes. But if you are looking for a stove able to cook all your meals reasonably fast without being so heavy, then the Brunton Raptor canister stove could be a good choice. On the other hand if you want a very ultralight stove, check my lens MSR Pocket Rocket Stove Review. It weights only 3oz.

Pros & Cons of the Brunton Raptor Stove
Pros
It comes with a piezo electric lighter.
Surprisingly, it simmers pretty well.
Boils water really fast in optimal conditions.
The stove is well constructed, seems to be made to last.
The stove has one year warranty.
Cons
It is not an ultralight stove, but not so heavy either.
As with any other canister stove, performance in wind and cold are issues. I don't recommend carrying it neither for travelling in winter, nor for high altitude trips.
The pot supports can heat after burning a little time, so be patient before folding them again.
The base support shown in the photo is not included. You can buy it apart or you have to buy the combo, if you want to buy it.
