NBA and Phoenix basketball!

NBA has never been global before and Phoenix has a couple of international players itself in Nash and Barbosa, just to name a few. With the NBA season under way, we can only expect the greatest athletes playing for the right of being called the best in the world.

Grant Hill: Phoenix's New Sun

yes he's here and he's loving it!

In a little over $1.8 million, the suns have acquired the services of 36 year old Grant Hill in the off-season after playing for the Orlando Magic last season. Of course, an average NBA fan knows Hill. He was deemed as a great scorer, and have been constantly given comparisons to Michael Jordan. But that came to an end when basically his whole NBA career has been plagued with injuries and a few surgeries here and there. But what makes his acquisition so essential in Phoenix's campaign for the Larry O'Brien trophy.

Well, for one thing, he comes cheap and he chose the Suns over other teams. It's not everyday that a caliber player like Grant Hill comes around and signs a contract worth less than $2 million. He chose Phoenix to get a crack at the championship. And also, in this part of his career, he's not concerned about how many points he score. Instead, he is concerned in making the team win, and that's a good thing. Also, Phoenix can play him as a Point Forward similar to the role that he plays in his early days. This will take the pressure of Nash which is 33 years old now by the way.

But why are so many still skeptical about Hill's arrival at Phoenix. This will be discussed later...

Highlights from the 2006 season...

The video shows basically the Nash to Stoudemire connection started with the great rejection by Marion who blocks Duncan in the lane. Nice eh?

Phoenix: Fantasy heaven?

You like fantasy? You'll love this!

For those who love fantasy basketball (including myself). Choosing the right 'Sun' for your fantasy team made easy by me. Although it is not ranked in order. =D
  • Steve Nash: Well, Steve can pretty much give you everything. The points, the assists, a few rebounds, and some steals (on rare occasions). Basically, what he gives to your team is efficiency.
  • Shawn Marion: Shawn is one of the most consistent players you can have in your roster. He is a 20-10 type of player. Also, he is one of the doesn't go down with injuries easily.
  • Amare Stoudemire: He had a breakout season last year and also played the whole 82 games as a matter of fact and capped by his selection in the All-NBA First Team. Gives great rebounding and scoring stats and also can give you a couple of blocks on the side. But a main concern though is that he recently had a knee surgery in October which probably could change his play this year.
  • Leandro Barbosa: The reigning Sixth Man of the Year with a break-out year last season. 'The Brazilian Blur' is what people calls him and he exactly does that. He is known for blowing past people to the hole and then finish. He can score a whole lot of points especially when he's hot.
  • Boris Diaw: Acoording to Head Coach Mike D'Antoni, Diaw is a glue to any lineup he has on the floor and it certainly shows. Awardee of the Most Improved player a couple of years back, Diaw thrives on being a team-first kind of player. It is still remains to be seen his aggressiveness on the floor with the insertion of Amare on the lineup. Good stats though!
  • A few Suns players worthy of being mentioned are Grant Hill, Raja Bell and Brian Skinner. You will probably see some games where these guys will break out. Watch out people!
