Every Gardener Needs a Bucket List

If anyone should have a bucket list, it's a gardener. They live in a rich, lush landscape that is fertile ground for creativity and filled with ideas and things to do. Gardening speaks to the senses. It's visually stimulating and tactile-soothing. Gardens see nature in its stunning glory and feel her presence every time they push their hands into the loam. The world announces itself through chirps, caws, and cackles. The air is heavy with taste and tickles the nose with smell. How could gardeners not have visions of things they want to accomplish?

A bucket list is a great tool to capture those ideas, put them on paper, make them concrete, and stoke them into happening. Just as the gardener tills the soil, so should he or she tend their growing list of wants, desires and delights. Gardeners live in the present, the lush world of the senses. They explore the dirt underneath their fingertips. Why not explore the world? Start your bucket list now. Read on for more ideas and things to stimulate the imagination to grow the perfect bucket list for a gardener.

Blame It On The Movie - The Bucket List Movie

Things to do before you kick the bucket.

The Bucket List - The Movie The Bucket List [Blu-ray]
Bucket lists have been around for a long time or another but the recent popularity can be traced to a movie. The Bucket List captured the attention of many and propelled a new industry of bucket list makers. What does that mean? Well, a bucket list is simply things you want to do before you die. It's a major life to-do list. The idea is to write them down and scratch them off as the items are accomplished. List today, do tomorrow.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

How to Make a Bucket List

Be creative. Let your imagination soar

  • 1Follow the lead from the movie. Grab a legal pad or a piece of paper and start listing whatever comes to mind. What would you like to do?
  • 2Your first 10-20 ideas will probably spill out of you. After that, for some people. the ideas suddenly stop. Don't panic. Just sit and wait. Pretty soon the ideas will start flowing again.
  • 3A list of 100 items is often a great way to discover ideas. The list is long enough so that your ideas will flow in waves. You'll have 10-20, then maybe another 10 and then 15, and then 20. Pretty soon you'll have 100. When the silence occurs, don't worry. Round about the time you're ready to give up, those ideas will begin to bubble up.
  • 4Studies have shown that the more specific you are when detailing your items, the better. Be specific. Don't be afraid to flesh the idea out. The more, the better.
  • 5Once you have a list, you might want to find a notebook of some kind to transfer it to. If you want to take it with you and add notes to things as you do them, find one that is spiral bound with hard covers. That way you can easily write no matter where you are.
  • 6Others simply make the list and cross off each item as it's done. That's terrific.
  • 7The big thing to remember is that nothing happens until you act. Write your list. Then pick an item and do it. Pretty soon you'll need to sit down and create a new one.

No. They're just another mental toy.

I probably wouldn't. I'm the spontaneous type.

I'd like to say that they're helpful but being who I am, they're just another toy - well, lost toy in the hundreds of other lists I built and lost ;)

My wish list is something that would get rid of all the ground squirrels fro good so I'm not wasting my time working in the garden, LOL.

I'm a gardener but right now, I couldn't work in my garden - this makes me sad as I love gardening. Actually, I don't really need lists but I often build bucket lists because I always forget the things I wanna do as well as those I MUST do... but since I also lose the lists, they're just some kind of fun, allowing me to imagine I can do this and that, lol.
