What Makes Up a Bucket List?

I want to visit Mars...

Let's be realistic, some things are just are not as likely to happen as other things. Let's start simple. Going to Mars at this point is unrealistic, so let's stick with sky diving and such. However, before you begin, ask yourself, "What is the one thing that I most want to do before my time on earth is over?". Let that be your #1 and work down from there.
I would personally want very badl to learn to play the guitar. I suffer from ADD and find it incredibly hard to sit down and teach myself something that I want to be passionate about. This will be my number 1. This will be the goal on my bucket list that I will work diligently in achieving.
This my be unfathomable to some but obtaining my degree is not going to be listed on my bucket list. It's hard to believe that learning to play the guitar take presedence over education but there are reasons. Education comes first always, however, I think that obtaining a degree is not really appropriate for such a list. This could fall under long term and/or educational goals so leave the things that require gobbs of time off the bucket list. Educational goals simply can not be paired up with anything you might do on a whim.

Try Something You Have Always Wanted To Do...

...or even afraid to do.

Skydiving is a very popular Bucket entry. Why not check your local Skydiving school SKYDIVING Of course you could always just look the part...

egocentric?

I have to disagree. This is just a mere ideal of setting goals. Sure there are daily, weekly, long-term, work, educational etc. goals that should not be ignored, but this type of list initiates some sort of adventure. There are many things in life that we wish we could do. When you make the association with death, you understand that there is an undertermined deadline so to speak. This could either cause one to take on a list of things they wish they could do, or just give someone a chance to think about it. Let's look at the bigger picture. If we all understand that our days are numbered, the world might choose to live more passionately then rushed. Kudos to people who live well and enjoy the amazing gifts life brings. Unfortunately, we don't and therefore, stresses weigh on our hearts more in life then blessings.

The idea is to live a deliberate, purposeful life, one in which you have no regrets. You want to say the things to the ones you love and do things that will last. Live, laugh, love, learn and leave a legacy. I just listened to a book on tape (on my 45-minute drive to work)called "One Month to Live". What would you do if you found out you only had one month to live? I'd make some changes, that's for sure. I'm 58 and I lost my precious, 59 year old husband suddenly 4 months ago. I don't think, if he'd known he was going to die, that he wouldn't have changed a thing. He adored his family and we all knew that we were the most important part of his life. He loved the Lord. He was the most generous and honest man I've ever known. He left a wonderful legacy to us and many great memories. It's all about relationships, you know? Young people who want to go skydiving or "finding who they are" or "the meaning of life". It's kind of egocentric. It's not about this life anyway. It's about the next.

My 'bucket list' is different. I am 61yrs old, live in Essex UK, and I have cancer.

The shock is overwhelming, however, I have just realised how lucky I am.

Over the years I have done a lot, but there are young people out there who have little time left and have done nothing.

What would be a good idea is the get their 'bucket list' and just maybe we could get them to do some of these things.

Over the next few months I shall think of some way we can get the right contacts to help young guys achieve their dreams.

So why do YOU think people need a bucket list? In your opinion don't you think everyone tries to do everything they want anyways? I think the lack of doing things is because of time and most of all MONEY! For example, the cost of skydiving is like $200. For a day of fun that can be pretty expensive.

I WANT TO VISIT MANY PLACES BEFORE LEAVING THIS LIFE, BUT REALLY HOW MUCH TIME DOES ONE HAVE, AND WHAT DO YOU GAIN FROM DOING THESE THINGS BEFORE YOU GO? I MEAN REALLY, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE THAT YOU CAN TAKE WITH YOU. THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF IS LEAVING PICTURES BEHIND FOR YOUR LOVED ONES TO SAY "HEY LOOK AT WHAT HE/SHE DID!"
