Buckwheat hull pillows - The best pillow to support your head and neck

Buckwheat Pillows are made from buckwheat, which is a natural, inexpensive and renewable material, unlike the petroleum-based foam used in many pillows.

Most importantly buckwheat pillows provide excellent support for the head, neck and back because the hulls conform to the weight and shape of the body during sleep. Buckwheat pillows also provide natural air circulation between individual hulls, resulting in ideal temperatures for peaceful sleeping. In other words it is cool in summer and warm in winter.

Buckwheat pillows have become the preferred cushion for yoga students, but are now commonly used by all sorts of people. In fact some of the swankiest hotels worldwide have begun offering buckwheat pillows to their guests as an alternative because of their increased popularity.

Manufacturers of buckwheat pillows have expanded their lines. Aside from the standard bed pillow, buckwheat pillows are available in full-body sizes similar to a futon. They are also offered as keyboard wrist rests, eye pillows, travel pillows, and neck-rolls. There are even tubular buckwheat pillows with straps, used for lumbar support while driving, working, or sitting at a desk. Some manufacturers have taken to adding herbs, such as lavender and chamomile, to the buckwheat hulls to add a touch of aromatherapy.

Many healthcare professionals have also started recommending buckwheat pillows to patients suffering from such conditions as migraines, snoring, insomnia and menopausal night sweats.

I recommend buying buckwheat pillows because...

I believe that the buckwheat hull pillow is the best pillow I have ever used, and trust me, I've tried quite a few. The buckwheat hulls comfortably mold to the shape that your head, neck and/or shoulders compress them into, while still providing great support.

If you have issues with your neck and shoulders after sleeping, as I do but less so as I sleep with this pillow, then I highly recommend this pillow to you, though it may not be quite as useful for those of you who switch positions often or are otherwise physically restless before sleep or during the night as it takes a few minutes for it the hulls to settle into position.

Snorers please note: The buckwheat pillow GREATLY reduced my snoring when I sleep on my side, thus I get a better night's rest (and so does my spouse).

Why choose a buckwheat neck pillow or buckwheat travel pillow with bucky bag?

Uncomfortable travel is a thing of the past with this neck pillow from Bucky. Its organic buckwheat fill comfortably fits around your neck and provides stable support in planes, trains or automobiles.

Are buckwheat pillows comfortable?

No, they are terrible.

Yes, they are (almost) the best thing thats ever happened to me

Cathy says:

They are the best. I had two that I bought over ten years ago. One I left in a cab probably; the other one got nicked at Reagan in DC just last year. Couldn't belive anyone would steal an obvioulsy used neck pillow. I just discovered I can no longer find a pillow like those. They were the "Bucky" brand, but they had a zipper that allowed the user to have the curved travel pillow, but also to open it into a square, which is also very useful in making adaptations for where you and your neck are at the time. I have searchd the internet, but can only find one or the other now. Guess I just have to settle, but if anyone knows if that pillow is still available, I and my neck would be most grateful.

Linwood says:

There is no other pillow that even comes close. Just be sure to get a quality buckwheat pillow with a zipper in one end. That's the secret, because each person can adjust theirs to suit themselves. I take mine with me anytime I stay away over night. I like mine only about 1/2 full, so I can really shape it to my neck. I tried tempurpedic, feathers, down, vinyl foam, plastic beads. None of them even come close. They all make my head sweat, for one thing. They're the only pillows not subject to dustmite infestation, too. Ever look at one of those things under a magnifying glass?
