Buddy the Wonder Cat

You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats.

I was always a tried and true dog person, until I met Buddy.

This little golden ball of fur was horribly abused in the early years of his life. It's been said that he was originally a farm cat and had a run in with some boys that thought it would be funny to swing him around by his back legs and tail. Sadly, it left Buddy with two broken back legs, a broken tail and a useless eye. Buddy's legs and tail healed broken and thankfully he was rescued by the Humane Society and not put down because of his defects.

His original foster mom (whom I would love to thank, but don't know her personally) was unable to keep him because of the dogs in her home and he was given to a friend of my daughter. That's when I first met Buddy. We became friends instantly and didn't know that we were destined to meet to become roommates 2 years later.

As it turned out, Buddy came into my life just when I needed a friend and true spirit the most, and he was.

Buddy taught me the true meaning of forgiveness and trust, at precisely the right time. He is a true survivor and a grand example for us all.

Animal Ark is unique among the animal shelters in Minnesota. Though we are small and have limited funds, we have built and maintain the most elaborate sheltering available for homeless dogs, cats and rabbits. Instead of small, cold, stainless steel cages, cats are housed in large, open, kitty apartments that include exterior windows, cat trees and other amenities.
