this place is over rated. small rooms and smelly canal water outside.

This is a good choice hotel for budget traveler. I booked the cheapest room and it was ok. A bit worn down here and there but the bed was firm and good for a nights rest. The neighborhood was beautiful and close to Khao San road. I was happy during my 3 stay here at New World Hotel.

Had a enjoyable stay though sometimes the river smells a bit funky. Our hotel rooms were clean, but not in the greatest shape since it's a bit old. Staff was friendly and above all the price is just right. Thanks for providing the booking service.

Hotel is old and needs a refurbishment. Reception is not friendly at all and breakfast although is free needs to be kept warm. I can probably find a better hotel near here that is cheaper too.

Poor customer service and room condition. Stayed here for 2 days last week and had a horrible time. Reception was not helpful and it seemed like we were giving them a problem. Morning breakfast was very limited and food is cold. Room was old and wall was peeling. Shower had no hot water. We will never come back here!

Very good hotel, just make sure you don't get a room near the canal, it stinks. I like the quiet peaceful location with many nice little bars and restaurants nearby. We booked 3 rooms here 2 were in good condition though 1 needs a bit of refurbishment. Overall I would recommend staying here.

We didn't find New World so good as all the other reviews here. Our room was not clean properly like it was rushed. Breakfast in morning was poor and cold. THe only good thing about this hotel is the location. It is in old district of Bangkok. Luckily things around this area are cheaper than central Bangkok, which was easy to get to by taking the boat ferry.

A perfect hotel to stay in our favorite part of Khao San in Bangkok. Our family absolutely enjoyed our clean rooms but more importantly the friendly staff that made us feel special. Food is delicious in hotel too and there are many other great places to eat all over the area too. Will come back next year.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We really liked our room though we had to close the window because right outside is a funky smelling river. Our room was decent, not the greatest, it is a budget hotel after all so you can't expect 5 star. Bed was nice and comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. Our room rate came with free breakfast which was quite good too, many choices to choose from. We give this hotel 3 stars for quality and service and recommend travelers to stay here.

Yeah I agree it's a good hotel choice, not too expensive but the of the course the quality is not high. Though I have to admit it is still comfortable and housekeeping are very efficient at cleaning up after the mess our children made. Overall New World is a good choice for families.

Good hotel very close to Khao San road. It's near a canal which smells sometimes so I'd stay away from that area. Was surprised to see the area is so quiet which my friends and I enjoyed. Not too far is a good little park where you can have a nice little picnic.

Okay place with decent rooms and breakfast. It's quite a walk for me to Khao san road but it is walkable. Don't know if I wiould come back though it's far from center of Bangkok.

I love Khao San road and the attitude of people there. New World Hotel has made the trip more memorable. There were slight problems with check in but it was quickly cleared up due to a misunderstanding. My superior room faced the canal outside and there was a funny smell but it fades in and out, so make sure you keep the windows shut. Breakfast is pretty good too.

Before coming this hotel I read a lot of good and bad reviews. So I was a bit worried. Luckily I had a good experience here. Our standard room was just fine, very clean. I heard it's best to have a room opposite the river because of the smell and I agree. Khao San is our favorite place to chill with great people everywhere and it's very close by.

I knew this hotel was far from the Bangkok center but at least I save money. I didn't mind as Khao San was 5 minutes walk away and a great place to hang out with people from all over the world. The rooms at this hotel were clean but we had a small ant problem which housekeeping took care of.

We stayed at the New World Hotel on November 7-8, 2008.The room was a little pricey for southeast Asia. I think we paid over US $50 per night for the two of us. But it wasn't a bad room and had a pretty decent view of the city. It also came with a free breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant. Staff was very friendly and helpful when I needed to find a pharmacist. We were only in Bangkok a couple of days, so the location was perfect for us because we were able to see a few of the sites before moving on. Easy walking distance to Khao San and the river.

Very far from city center but close to backpacker quarter of Kao San Road which I prefer. Everything here is cheap cheap, food, beer and more beer. Getting to center of Bangkok is not hard, it just takes a bit longer since traffic is super bad. So it's better to get to Hua Lumphong MRT station. But Overall this hotel is clean and rooms are adequate.

This hotel is far from city center. I should've taken your advice and stayed closer to center. Hotel is not a problem at all as it is very nice. Hotel is close to old sight like historical and backpacker town, but I was still able to hit the big shopping malls in Bangkok. Next time pay more and stay closer to city center.
