Best Travel Books
The Japanese Travel Guides
Have you ever wonder why Americans do not travel more often? There's one very simple explanation. Travel books by American publishers are extremely and painfully boring!!!Who the heck wrote these books??? They are crammed in text. Excuse me, this is about seeing the sights about other places!!! Unfortunately, 90% of the travel books produced by American publishers are really junk. Instead of creating an atmosphere of fun and excitement on travel, they made travel boring, dull, and unattractive.
Just look at the simple comparison here. If I could read Japanese, I would definitely buy all my travel guides in Japanese. Why waste your time with boring books.
Not all is lost, there are two publishers who have gone the pictorial route. Those are the only publishers I would recommend on travel guides. The others are just plain JUNK.
Secret to knowing where you are staying with Hotwire
If you are frustrated for not knowing where you'd be staying when you book thru Hotwire.com, there's a great website for you.As usual, you need to be super sure that you will be traveling on those dates because neither is at all forgiving if you need to make any changes to your hotel arrangements. If you are not at all comfortable with that types of treatment by these two websites, you shouldn't even bother with this tip. Otherwise, you could get great savings!
By the way, you should still compare prices on the websites mentioned before. You never know if for some odd reason you'd get much better rates thru those sites. It has happened before.

Best time to London and Paris
The lessen known fact
Most people will probably tell you that it's best to travel to London and Paris during the low season. If you want to save money, go at non-peak time.
The problem is that, traveling in non-peak time can sometimes result in you wasting time and money. The one or two thousands dollar saved might end up costing you more.
Why? Here are some reasons:
1. If you were to travel to London and Paris in Winter time, you are in a big surprise. Did you know that sun set at around 5pm? Compared that to almost 10pm during Summer. That's 5 fewer hours to enjoy the city sights and sounds!! Assuming you are visiting for 5 days, that's a loss of 25 hours, practically a whole day's worth!
2. If you go in Winter vs Summer, you might encounter a situation where there are fewer available attractions and activities. That means you cannot enjoy London or Paris to their fullest extend.
3. Luggage size. Traveling in Winter means having to wear heavy clothing. That means you either have to carry more weight or buy less souvenirs.
So rethink before you book at non-peak times. If your budget allows, it's recommended that you go at slightly off peak times like the Spring or Fall. You will face less crowd plus most activities are still attainable.
Nevertheless, if it's a decision between staying home versus traveling during Winter, I would choose traveling in Winter! You simply must experience the wonderful culture abroad.
