Volunteer Cameroon Abroad Buea Orphanage HIV Programs
Volunteer Cameroon Abroad Buea Orphanage HIV Programs Cameroon is a safe Central African Republic bordered to the west by the Gulf of Guinea. One of the most diverse countries in Africa, Cameroon is often referred to as "Africa in miniature?. Cameroon has everything you would expect from the African continent; tropical rainforests, deserted golden beaches, great expanses of desert, vast lakes and savannah, and volcanic mountains in-between. Compared with other African countries, Cameroon enjoys political and social stability. Nevertheless, large numbers of Cameroonians live in poverty as subsistence farmers. The unemployment rate is high and those who are employed perform mostly agricultural tasks. The HIV/AID crises have hit hard especially the children, many of whom lack proper healthcare. Cameroon has one of the highest school attendance rates in Africa. Although attendance rates are high, there is a shortage of teacher leaving schools chronically understaffed. Cameroon is having two seasons that is the rainy and dry season; the rainy season runs from March to September while the dry season runs from October to February. The major spoken languages are still English and French but a multitude of more than 200 ethnic languages are also in circulation, with various tribes populating the country. Our programs are located in Buea and the surrounding rural towns where English is predominately spoken. The nearest airport from our head office is Douala International, about an hour drive from Buea. All participants should book their flights to Douala Airport. The volunteer program goal is to give international support to local organizations helping needy children and young people throughout south west Cameroon. www.abroaderview.org Volunteer Abroad India programs organizations Peru Chile Cusco service vacations center college africa ghana uganda jobs

www.abroaderview.org
Buea, the capital of the South West Province is located close to the Gulf of Guinea. Once a German capital colonial city, Buea still boasts a handful of colonial era buildings, and architecture. Today Buea is the provincial capital of Cameroon and a university town. It is the only Cameroon provincial capital that is still considered a rural town mainly because it still lacks the socio-economic development of other areas.
Buea sits on the eastern slopes of Mount Cameroon, the highest mountain in west and central Africa. Every, thousands of people gather in Buea in February from many countries of the world for the famous Mount Cameroon Race of Hope (ascending and descending the mountain)
The warm climate, close proximately to the beach and hospitable people make Buea and south west Cameroon a wonderful place to live and volunteer. Our volunteer projects are based in Buea and the surrounding rural villages. Our programs provide you the chance to discover the wonders of rural Cameroon, while doing meaningful and rewarding community service work.
