A piece of history.

The Buena Vista Social Club take their name from a club that existed in 1940's Cuba. In the 1990's, musicians Juan de Marcos González and Ry Cooder came together to make an album. That album was called "The Buena Vista Social Club", and included songs written and performed by members of the original club.

Compay Segundo, Eliades Ochoa, Rubén González and Ibrahim Ferrer.

These were some of the most highly acclaimed artists on the album. All of them were members of the original Buena Vista Social Club. Compay Segundo was in his 80's when he sang and wrote "Chan Chan" on the album. Unfortunately, all except Eliades Ochoa have passed away since the recording of the album.
Rest in peace, thank you for the music.
