If you have emergency rations, you won't be hungry while you wait for the road to town to be passable. And don't forget water. Especially during floods, the water supply can become unsafe to drink. Jugs you've filled ahead of time at home can grow algae and get nasty. Sealed pouches of emergency water stay safe and fresh.
