Reporting Problems You Find to Squidoo HQ
We rely on our community of lensmasters and fans and readers to make great pages, share their best recommendations, and also to help us keep the site working the way you expect it to. Share your feedback, suggestions, problems. Let us know where you're stuck, or just say hi.
Here's how to report a bug to Squidoo staff.
1. Is it really a bug?
- Question - if you want to know how to do something on Squidoo, then you're best off asking in the SquidU Forum, where there are many knowledgeable Lensmasters who can probably answer any questions you have.
- Suggestion - if you have an idea on how to improve Squidoo, and make it better for everyone, HQ would love to hear from you. Use the Feedback form to tell them about it.
- Spam - Squidoo has a Zero Tolerance of Spam, so if someone has sent you spam via one of your lenses then you can report it via the Report Spam form. Please be sure to include the URL of the lens in question, and tell us why you think this lens (or lensmaster) has been engaging in spam behavior. The more specific you can be, the faster they can act.
- Abuse - The 'Report Abuse' link, found at the bottom right of every lens, can be used to report lenses that are not rated properly (G, R), look spammy or fishy, or have otherwise violated a TOS or guideline.
- Locked - any issues with locked lenses and accounts are dealt with separately. Read the lens about locked lenses for how to resolve them.
- Fault - if you've found something that is genuinely broken, then it's a bug. This can be anything from a lens not loading properly, not being able to edit a lens to problems with your login. Details of how to report these is detailed below.
2. Where is the bug report form?

At the bottom of every page on Squidoo, there is a section titled 'Help & Feedback', with a collection of links underneath.
Click on the one labled 'Feedback and Bugs'...
There's also a bold red button at the top of forum:
3. What information to provide
Next you need to do when reporting a bug is select which type it is from the drop-down list:
- Make a suggestion
- Report a nasty bug
- Get help confirming my Squidoo account
Include your name and the email address you used to sign up with Squidoo. This will help them identify you and your account more easily, and is essential if you're having login or password problems.
If you are reporting a bug, please describe it in detail. Be sure to give us the URL if you're talking about a lens, and your username if you're talking about your account. It's also helpful to provide is with the exact email you've used for your account sign-up. This info helps us help you faster.
Write exactly what you were doing, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened. Be sure to include where you were on Squidoo at the time (viewing or editing a lens or profile), and any error messages you saw.
Also let them know which web browser you are using, and which version. If you can test it using another browser, then this would be very helpful. Some bugs are only visible in certain browsers, so it helps a lot if they know this.
Example: "Can't upload new picture to introduction module"
"I was editing the Introduction of my lens (http://www.squidoo.com/lens) and I attempted to upload a new picture to it. Instead of my new picture appearing, I got a gray box with the text 'No image yet'. I'm tried this in both Firefox 3.5 and IE8, and I get the same problem in both."
4. Then what?
Thanks for sending in your Squidoo feedback report.
We look at every single bit of feedback and every bug report we receive.
The SquidTeam is, however, very small and very busy. So we can't get back to everyone, or as quickly as we'd like. But we'll try.
All you can do now is wait... If it is a serious bug that is affecting everyone, then there's a good chance that it'll keep fixed relatively quickly. The more obscure bugs might take longer for someone to investigate.
If you need to provide additional information regarding the case, you can reply to the automated email. If you think screen shots would help the team see what you're seeing, then attached them in your reply.
This keeps all your details under the same case number. Filing multiple reports can be tricky - they can get deleted as duplicates, misfiled, or sent to two different people to be resolved. Keeping everything under the same case helps us help you!
