How Do You Build a Shed?

This lens is all about my experiences building a shed despite having no woodworking experience of any kind. The extent of my DIY abilities is putting together some IKEA furniture and changing lightbulbs. I decided that building a shed couldn't be that hard and found out that I was right.

Although it wasn't always that way. My first attempts were downright laughable. I made a lot of mistakes and spent a lot of money that I didn't have.

I didn't know what I was doing - simple as that.

This lens is my attempt to share my knowledge about what I learned building a backyard shed so hopefully you don't make the same mistakes I did and get off on the right foot.

Build Backyard Shed

You would be amazed how easily and how cheaply you can build backyard shed structures. Before starting to build, you must be sure that you have all of the tools you are going to need.

The more setting up you do in advance, the more successful you'll be in the end. Your plan to construct a garden shed ought to ideally come in the form of a blueprint. You may not think of plans or blueprints as being tools, but they are without doubt the most important tool in the process of shed building.

After you've got your blueprint, it's time to gather up all your traditional tools. For example, a drill, a saw plus a hammer as well as all your various drill bits and attachments.
You may also need tools like a shovel, wheel barrow, framing square and a pry bar.

Try to have the best quality set of tools that you can to ensure that everything runs smoothly. The project will run more efficiently when you have a reliable quality set of tools and it will save you effort and time in the long run.

You are also going to need various supplies in addition to the tools mentioned above to build your garden shed. These supplies will include screws, nails, concrete, lumber and shingles and other construction materials. Make sure you go over your list carefully and collect all these items before you start the process. It's a terrible feeling to be getting underway with your construction only to find that you are missing some tools or materials and have to lose time.

If you follow the advice laid out in a good set of shed plans as well as these steps will ensure this whole process is a easy. Once complete, you will have a handy structure that you'll be proud to call your own.

I personally recommend the information contained on DIYPlansForSheds.com. I came across this site when searching for plans to build backyard shed structures myself, and was thrilled with all of the great information.
