Many guys seem to believe that gaining muscle is all about working out for long periods of time. This is absolutely not true. In fact, workouts that last longer than 47 minutes greatly reduce your muscle gaining potential. This is because you body begins releasing cortisol (a stress hormone) after about this long.

Protein is the building block of muscle. Without enough protein, your body will simply not have what it needs to rebuild your muscles stronger or larger.
With that said, you must make sure that you get 1 gram of protein for every pound of body weight. This will maximize your recovery period and ensure large gains. The best way to get your protein intake is by drinking protein shakes. They are much healthier than eating red meat and they do not fill you up as much.

This is a rookie mistake (I was guilty of this myself). You need to make sure that you breathe during your reps. Inhale when lowering your weight to the starting position and exhale at the most stressful part of the exercise.
Your muscles MUST have sufficient oxygen during intense exercise or they will drastically under-perform.
