Building Website Traffic

So you have created the best site on the internet but how are you going to get traffic to it? This is the biggest question on every Webmaster's mind. Below I have listed several ways to promote your webpages/blogs. All it takes is a little time and effort. Getting free traffic to your site can be as simple as just joining a few programs and putting some time into making it happen.

Here is another Traffic getting Suggestion. Text Ad Exchanges. These are great ways to get traffic to your sites and when you view other ads you earn credits to send get your ads seen. I have had lots of hits this way. You can also earn money with a few of these.

My Favorite is AMA Adz. You can earn $0.30 a day when you view 30 solo ads. It doesn't sound like much but if you view 30 a day for 30 days that's $9.00 a month. Payout is on the 15th of the month. I use this payout to fund other programs that I am in. You can get a free Pro Membership now until they reach 1500 members. If you hurry you might get in.

1. Create a Squidoo Lens

Create a Squidoo Lens that matches your Websites Criteria. Then link your lens to your website. If it is a Blog you are promoting write a short Article about your Lens with your link. Don't forget to link back to your Blog from your Lens as well.

2. Blogging

Blogging itself is a great way to promote your website. The search engines will find your blog quicker then a traditional website. Create a Blog on the same subject as your website. Post as often as you can and link your blog to your website and watch your traffic increase.

3. Traffic Exchanges

Traffic Exchanges is another way to get hits to your website. There are a lot of great Exchanges that are worth joining and even upgrading in. These TE's have a good solid reputation. Remember that you do not have to join a thousand of these to get a lot of credits. Concentrate on the good one's and you won't feel overwhelmed trying to surf all the time.

**Also note that if you have some advertisements such as Google Adsense on your site you are not allowed to show your site in traffic exchanges or you may be banned from Google.

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is key if you are looking to increase your traffic. This kind of traffic is good because it is truly targeted traffic -- People who are looking for what you have to offer. There are many sites online that are filled with great SEO information and how you can optimize your site. All you need to do is type it in any Search Engine and you'll find what you need.

Stay away from the SEO sites that use illegal tricks to get into the search engines. These will only end up getting you banned from SE's like Google and Yahoo.

Building Backlinks is essential if you are looking to rank high enough to be seen in the Search Engines. You can exchange links with other Website Owners who have the same type of Site as you. How to go about this? Look for the 'Contact Us' link and ask.

Secondly, you can look for a "Link to Us" link on their site. They will have a form you can fill in with your information. Don't forget to link to them before you submit your info. Most of these sites will deny your URL if they can't find their link on your site.

The following are a few resources for getting Backlinks. You may also want to check these sites to make sure that they have good Quality Content. If you link to a site that does not have lots of good content it may hurt rather than help your site.

6. Email Marketing

Email Marketing can be very effective but it is also very risky if you do not know how to go about starting.

First you will need to Educate yourself on Internet and Spam Laws. The last thing that you want is to go about it blindly and end up in trouble for spamming. It may not have been intentional but ignorance is not bliss in this situation. Educating yourself will help your Email Campaigns and your Self-Confidence.

Secondly, you will need a good Auto Responder. I recommend Get Response. They have many Tutorials and Videos to help you set things up.

Directories and Forums are other ways to place a link to your websites.

Just do a search online for Free Directories and then place your link in the appropriate Category.

Then become a member of Forums that are related to your website for example; Work from Home, Crafts, Recipes, etc... and start posting and talking with other members. Place a link to your website in your signature. Just remember to READ the Forum Rules. Some may not allow you to post your link. Read and make sure that you are allowed to do so first so that you will not be banned or accused of Spamming.

Registering with Social Bookmarking sites is a one of the easiest ways to get traffic. These places are full of people looking for websites and blogs on various Topics that interest them. You can easily obtain good targeted traffic.

Just do a search in Google for the most popular Social Bookmarking sites and register your blogs. It may take some time to do this but you will find that it is well worth it.

Offline Marketing can consist of many things including Word of Mouth. WOM is actually quite simple. You can start by just talking with your friends, co-workers and family members. If they are interested they will tell someone else they know and you could get the news out about your Product or Service very quickly.

Other forms of Offline Advertising could be Business Cards, Brochures, Flyer's or even a Sign in your yard. All you need to do is make sure that you print your Website Address on these items.
