This sounds like an ambitious project. I saw a video on Youtube where some guys used kitchen bowls and dishes as analog synthesizers.
  • JosephFosco May 27, 2012 @ 4:51 pm | delete
It is amazing, some people make synths out of anything. This guy built his synth in tupperware containers http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~houshu/synth/MOSular01.JPG

I didn't know a theramin world existed! This lens takes me back to when my brother dismantled my childhood desk and used it with motherboards and lots of soldering to make it into a guitar pedal with several sounds. Thankgod he never got his hands on all this info!
  • JosephFosco Jul 6, 2011 @ 9:13 pm | delete
Quite an active theremin world out there -as a matter of fact! Glad this brought back nice memories. Sounds like you have a very cool brother.

    Best wishes.

Great info! I love synth sounds. Do you know a band named Add N to (X). They did a great Indie Rock + Experimental like sound. Probably they used to make they own synths besides they classic moogs.
  • JosephFosco Sep 27, 2010 @ 9:46 am | delete
I agree with you on synth sounds, especially analogue synths. I haven't heard of the band, but I will be looking them up. Thanks very much for commenting

  • sterlingsieraden Jan 31, 2010 @ 12:14 pm | delete
Crazy lense, some nice tips here and there but I don't think I am able to build a synth myself :\
  • mij_fan Jan 3, 2010 @ 3:43 pm | delete
Wow, this lens is like looking at the "Synth DIY" section of my firefox bookmarks!
You even mentioned one or two sites I hadn't heard of.
Maybe I should do a lens on my own DIY modular sometime...
