Kingdoms of Camelot - How to Build a Second City

Ranked #1,396 in Games, #51,632 overall

Kingdoms of Camelot - A Facebook Game

Kingdoms of Camelot is a Real Time Strategy game played in Facebook. You are royalty in the court and must build cities, train armies, manage resources and work with alliances to protect the lands.

Follow the guided tour to begin to build your kingdom. These quests will help you build your city, increase your might, and help you get promoted. You will quickly learn that the key to success in the game is in managing your resources. Even gold plays a second fiddle to the amount of resources that can be produced. The single best way to increase your resource production is to quickly build a second city. Not only will a second city allow you to conquer additional wildernesses, it allows you to raise buildings and armies simultaneously with your first city.

It won't take long until you are ready to build a second city. Be prepared to build that city as soon as possible, and make sure you assign a full compliment of Knights immediately. Since they gain power as time goes on, it is worth the short term financial hit for the long term gain!

Use the following steps to build your second city.

Be a Level 7 (Baronet)

You will start off at Level 1, but as you gain Might, you will increase your ranking. Earning Level 7 is a requirement before you can build a second city.

Fortunately, this does not take a long time, so make sure that you are ready to go to build the second city as soon as possible. Just follow the quests provided by the developers and you will be at Level 7 in very short order!

Have 10 Friends who play Kingdoms of Camelot

This really isn't as hard as it sounds. There are many ways to get friends for this purpose.

1. Go to the Kingdoms of Camelot Facebook page and post a request for Friends in their Discussion forum.

2. Look in the General Discussion Forum inside the game. A Lot of people are looking for friends there too.

3. Ask to be invited to an Alliance. Typically, your fellow alliance members will want to be your friend as well.

4. Talk to people in game. The world-chat is filled with active players who would like to work more closely with you.

At the end of the day, you will need 10 friends in order to earn the Second City Deed.

Get a Second City Deed

Second City DeedThe Second City deed will be earned when you get ten friends or finish the quest. The game states that you can buy the deed in the store, but it does not seem to be available at this time.

Even so, you will find the game much more enjoyable to play with people who are your friends and alliance-mates.

Conquer a Plain

A PlainThis part is easy. You must attack and conquer a plain. The level of the plain does not matter at all. In the attached picture, the targeted plain is Level 7. Conquering that plain will give you no additional bonus over conquering a Level 1 plain.

What is important is where the plain is located. You will build your second city at this location so choose wisely. I highly recommend you build a second city away from your first city. Too many people build them right next door to each other. Doing that has two major disadvantages:

1. If an aggressive player successfully loots one city, your second, neighboring city is almost guaranteed to be hit as well.
2. Both cities will be shopping from the same marketplace. If your second city was in a different province, you could take advantage of market inefficiencies to make a profit.

Reinforce the Plain

Supply Troop***As of September 2010, you no longer need to reinforce your plains! This is an oft forgotten step, and players should be very happy that this is no longer required!***

You must "reinforce" the plain with 250 supply troops AND 10,000 EACH of gold, food, wood, stone, and ore.

The most common mistake of new players is to not reinforce with enough resources.

You "reinforce" by clicking on the Rally Point and then on March Troops.

Under the March Type: dropdown box, choose Reinforce. You can add resources to your supply troops to make them carry 10,000 of each item with them.

And That's It!

Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a Second City in Kingdoms of Camelot. Make sure you assign Knights as quickly as possible. The older your Knights are, the bigger bonus they will provide you. It is always good to add more skills to your Knights to give you extra bonuses for building times (both construction and armies)

Why is a Second City Important?

Building a second city is a critical component to gameplay. By having one built, it allows you to double your resource production, double your army, and double your might!

If you play it well, you may not need to build a second marketplace or alchemy lab. If you don't actively play PvP, you may be able to get rid of a watch tower in the second city as well. How does that benefit you? Quite simply, it allows you put Barracks in their place. The more Barracks you build in a city, the faster your armies can be raised. When you talk about building 10,000 troops at a time, having those extra Barracks will amount to many hours of saved building time.

Couple the extra Barracks with a high ranking Knight, and you will have an extremely powerful Might-building machine!

Is a Second City as Good as Farming Barb Camps?

Farming Barbarian Camps are certainly the fastest way to harvest food. It is significantly faster than the long, slow wait for food production. Within a few minutes, you can harvest several million food.

So, is farming Barb Camps the best way to get food? The answer is .... "it depends"

While Barbarian Camps provide a quick boost to resources, they require your proactive action each and every time you log on.

Building additional cities don't require you to log on every day - so if you are away on vacation, having a robust set of cities will provide enough food for your troops.

Farming Dead Cities

There are many dead cities strewn throughout the land. Typically, these can be identified by them having a reasonable amount of Might but no associated Alliance.

Almost every player is involved in an alliance, and if they are not active, the alliance will drop them.

If you find a prospective dead city, send scouts to get the details. If you have researched enough, your scouts will return with the date that the player last played. If it has been several months, then odds are this is a dead city - and it will probably be ok to loot them.

New changes in Battles!

There will be two tiers of troops and within each tier there will be three types of troops. Each troop type will be strong against one of the others and weak against the last one (Think Rock-Paper-Scissors!)
