Why Building Chicken Coop Can Make The Difference
I grew up in the country and spent most of my time around farm animals on a daily basis. The chickens always wandered around freely and did their thing. Let's face it, chickens aren't the smartest animals on the farm yard, so we didn't think too much of it when one would disappear. Sometimes a stray dog would wander on the property and ravage a couple of unlucky ones that would fail to escape; sometimes predators such as skunks and coyotes would have a midnight snack. We even lost a couple that got too close to our pigs were munched them down before they had a chance to cluck.
We didn't have a chicken coop for a long time, mainly because we would let the chickens wander in and out of the barn. Once we decided to build the coop for them to have a place of their own, we noticed a big difference in the amount of eggs that were produced, not to mention the chickens were better protected from predators and the numerous accidents that befalls these poor creatures on a daily basis at the farm.

Building Chicken Coop and What To Consider
Make Sure You Take These Items Into Consideration
It's important to plan ahead when building anything, and even more so when building a chicken coop. You don't want to just jump in and start putting something together out of some spare wood and chicken wire. There are some important items that you need to consider.
1- Climate. What is the climate like where you live. Is it hot in the summer or extremely cold in the winter.
2- Predators. What kind of natural predators exist in your area. Do you live in the country where your chickens will become a delicious temptation for a variety of animals, or do you only have to worry about the neighbor's dog. Either way you need to keep your chickens as safe as possible.
3- Size. This usually is determined by the number of chickens you own and the size of your property that you are keeping them on. You don't want to crowd your chickens together and you might also need a coop that is mobile.
4- Cost. How much money do you have set aside for this project. You should set up a budget and build your chicken coop based around it. Whether you have money or none at all, there are ways to build what you want based on any budget.

How To Build A Low Cost Chicken Coop
Building Chicken Coop and All Of The Advantages
Learn Why You Should Have Your Own Chicken Coop
If you have chickens, then you probably already understand the advantages, but what you might not know is the advantages of building your own chicken coop for them. By doing it yourself you will have control of building a coop that fits your space and your needs.I know from experience that letting them run around, gets them into trouble. If you have place for them then you are keeping them much safer from natural predators and accidental death.
Not only does the chicken coop provide them with a safe haven, but it also will increase the number of eggs they produce, keeping you even more self sufficient in a time when people are beginning to realize the importance of this.
Having chickens can be messy. If you have an area to contain your chickens then it will be easier to manage the mess they create. Also another advantage of this mess they make is that it can be used as fertilizer to help your garden and plants. With your own chicken coop created to your specifications this will be much easier to manage.
Another advantage is that you can feed your table scraps to your chickens in a contained area where the other animals won't be able to bother them. I used to try to give some of the table scraps to my chickens but the dogs would always chase them off and eat their food.

- This is very cool, I'm glad there's a choice between simple chicken coops and more 'advanced' chicken coops because I'm an amateur carpenter :D

- Having grown up on a farm we had chickens everywhere. They wandered freely during the day but needed to be locked up at night because of predators. A strong chicken coup was important. Like your information.
