Write articles and post them on article directories. However, don't just randomly list on hundreds of article directories, but rather post on directories that have at least a Google Page Rank 3 or better. There are so many new article directories now that your articles can get lost in the shuffle and won't get credit from the search engines simply because those sites have not built their own website backlinks.

Search for sites that compliment your own and offer to pay a small fee to be listed on their site. When negotiating, ask how many pages your link will be listed on and for how long. Again, look for sites with higher pageranks.
