You are going to hear the phrase Landing Page many times. Do you understand what a landing page is?

A landing page is not complicated, in simple terms its any page you send traffic to on your website. Simple as that! It does not matter if you are sending traffic to your site from articles you wrote, a squidoo page you created or from advertising you have paid for, the landing page is where that traffic lands on your site.

Types of Landing Pages Heading 

There are a few different types of landing pages and each of them is used for a different purpose. What you must remember as you read this lens is, a great landing page is the difference between success and failure for any marketing campaign.

Affiliate Marketing Directory

Squeeze Page: 

this is a single page thats sole purpose is to collect email and names for your auto-responder email campaigns.

Multi-Page Site: 

Just like it sounds, a site that has more than a single page. If the site is on a single topic, it is often reffered to as a mini-site. There is often a home page, about page, frequently asked question and contact page. These sites often run from 5 to thousands of pages.

Long Copy vs Short Copy: 

copy refers to the actual text you place on the page. There are pages of long copy, a single page that promotes every available feature and benefit of a product or program. Short copy is what is found on most non sales pages. You could also use short copy pages as a landing page for another site or for your squeeze page.

In order to sell your affiliate products you need a campaign.

Simply put, a campaign covers everything that you are planning to do to promote your selected affiliate product.

A popular type of an affiliate marketing campaign is called pay-per-click which is a paid advertising campaign where you bid for a spot on a site and you have to pay every time someone clicks on your ad, hence the name.

The above description of affiliate marketing maybe a simple one but it provides an idea of how affiliate marketing basically works. If you want to learn more about affiliate marketing there are many resources available that can help you. In choosing a resource to help you learn affiliate marketing, choose one that is not full of hype and empty promises. Many affiliate marketing resources from so-called "gurus" are simply fluff-filled materials that will make you more confused about affiliate marketing.

The best affiliate marketing resources around are the ones that provide real, down-to-earth information about how to make money online.

A single page dedicated to reviewing different products while comparing them to each other. you will find this style to be one of the most affective ways of promoting affiliate products.

Landing Pages That Convert 

Life may be simple, building a page that converts your traffic is not so simple. It is not enough to just throw up a page of information and then send traffic to it. There are many things you page will need to do to convert that traffic. You need to optimize the page in a way that your traffic wants to click through to the affiliate product. Your landing page is your salesman and it must grab the visitors attention, provide information and create a desire and need to go to the affiliate page.

Relevancy 

When you write an article and include a direct affiliate link into the resource area and the link is for general information, it will be hard to target specific groups. What you do want is the ability to target smaller specific groups of people and niche topics. You can do this best with a website.

You can create individual pages that target specific groups within any general area. The best example I can give you is weight loss. Weight loss is a general heading. Within the area of weight loss, you have "woman lose the pregnancy weight" " Men improve you abs" " Add 30 lbs of muscle in a month".

Having your own website allows you to focus your marketing on extremely small niche areas.

Landing Page Components 

There are many different areas that should be on your landing page. We are going to be looking at these areas and show you how to maximize your webpages so your traffic makes purchases.

Headlines 

Studies have shown that you have 10 seconds to get the attention of your visitor. If the visitor does not find what they are looking for or you do not get their attention in that length of time, they will probably go to another site.

Creating a compelling headline that tells the reader why they need to read the rest of the page can make the difference between making nothing and making success.

Page Content: 

The content you present or the sales copy on your web page is the second item for capturing the visitors attention. This copy will be the difference between the visitor that becomes a customer and the visitor that leave your site.

To be effective your content will need to keep your visitors attention for an extended length of time. The longer you keep the visitor on your page the greater the probability the visitor will click your affiliate link.

Is it Relevant? 

The most important part of good content for a web page is the information being relevant. When a person does a search on Google for "how to bake a pumpkin pie" and clicks on your link they expect to find information about how to bake a pumpkin pie.

Your search term needs to be in your content and be relevant to the content on your page. The same phrase you use for a search term should be in the title, introduction and body of the content. Google will reward you for this

Relevant Images: 

Placing relevant linked images on your landing page will dramatically increase the effectiveness of you content and landing page. It only takes a couple minutes to add images that people click through to the merchant site.

Is My Page Visually Appealing? 

I do not mean you have to be a graphic artist so that your website is visually appealing. Breaks - Images - Headlines - sub heading - bulleted lists and short paragraphs will enhance the visual appearance of your site, keep the readers attention and make items easy to locate.

Is there Sufficient Links? 

If your visitor can not find a link to click, guess what? Links send your visitors to your affiliate product. Make relevant pictures a link. Use large call to action links between paragraphs. Placing obvious links on your page will help keep the visitors attention and actually help them to click through to the affiliate product.

Are the Products Relevant & Visible? 

If you are wanting to sell a product on any landing page, make sure the product is obvious. First make sure your product is relevant to your visitors need. Second make sure the information and product are easy to locate.
