Package tracking for building is not a new thing, once a package arrives to a building it has to go through a process of identification and sorting and only then it will make its way to its final destination, keeping track of a package is important for property management mainly because it makes it easier to deliver packages and not lose them, however there are other issues that the tracking systems solves and can be used for.
The other thing that package scanning and tracking solves is the work of the super or the doorman, once used to working with a scanning device and a tracking software it will be easier, and much faster, for a doorman to be able to tell the residents of a building where has their packages arrived to.

The new package tracking systems are far more advanced and developed than what we used to have in the 90s', most of these software solutions were produced by the property management companies that need to automatize the process of package delivery in large buildings and condos.The main idea was to stop the mail on the front desk of the building super or doorman, and let the building take care of the delivery from there on, this required some training for the personal invoiced, but with the development of better tracking tools it became possible to provide instruction in a few hours time.
