I'm an ignoramus when it comes to things like these and as you can see, I still don't have my own lens yet. I want to make a lens to promote a site that sells Schnauzer Checks , NFL checks, deluxe business checks and more choices for cheap personal checks. Very grateful I've come across this site of yours! Thanks for sharing!

    Hi,
Since all of your emails have come early in the morning, why not send the next batches at around 7pm?
  • gamejunkie Mar 16, 2008 @ 1:02 am | delete
You could just post your lenses on a site at the same time every day. That way everyone knows what time they will be available and can place their order...sort of like a mini launch for your lenses. First come first served.
  • Phil Bell Mar 15, 2008 @ 1:03 pm | delete
Hi, Yes,difficult problem to solve - here's an idea ---- Create & publish a schedule with a wide range of times (baby product launches.) eg: Mondays 6am ET, Tuesdays 6pm ET, Wed noon ET, and so on.
Then, it's first come, 1st served or some variation on that. Thanks for asking...
  • InaBluMoon Mar 15, 2008 @ 8:46 am | delete
I love the lens I have purchased. What about just doing some on pre-paid special order and the rest up for grabs?

    Joanne
  • Richard Hurst Mar 15, 2008 @ 8:35 am | delete
    Tiffany,
Maybe to make it a little more fair, you could give a three day advance notice that certain lenses will become available on a certain day, and on that day they will be first come first serve, that gives everyone a chance to make themselves available to get the lense they want.
    Hope this helps

    Sincerely,
    Richard

Hi Tiffany and Lewis. You guys do great work! Yes, I am one who has had trouble, but that's because my gmail won't download to Thunderbird right away, or I am hyperfocused on work and not checking email. That's not your problem.

But I do like the idea of alternating (for a given topic or related topics) between first-come-first-served and drawing among the first 5 (or fewer if there are not 5 within, say, 12-24 hours). Thanks for considering possible options for those of us who seem to miss out on some great ones that relate to, and would enhance further, all of our other work.

    Hi,

Regarding your Poll: I checked the "other" button.

I thnk you should use an inventory control button like one from e-junkie. Set it with one item. When it sells it's gone. So I guess this would fall under the heading of first come first served.
  • Dave Mar 14, 2008 @ 8:25 pm | delete
The real problem is the time your email gets to people. My experience has been that the email arrives during the day when most people are at work, so by the time they get home it's long gone. Sometimes I feel people doing IM lose a sense of the fact there are people who actually leave home for 9 hours a day for a job. I'm not picking on you, it's at about 90% in the market. I have kept track of program releases for the last 6 months and just about all of them are between 8 am and 2 pm. That eliminates most of the people interested.

Ok, you guys are the coolest squidlettes in the pond! I don't really know the fairest way to sell the lenses. In most enterprises it's first come, first serve. However, I notice most of the offerings come in the morning hours when the average squideroo is at an average j.o.b.! So we cannot always jump on it. Maybe take the first 5 interested parties, knock off the last one or two who have actually grabbed one of your lenses and give someone a chance who hasn't got lucky yet? I don't know, I do know that you guys rock! Keep em coming! Thanks,
    Valerie

    Hey Tiff and Lewis,

What you could do is to take the first, say, ten people interested, and give to someone who hasn't gotten one recently. You could keep a simple spreadsheet of date of purchase. That way more folks get to participate and you have a happier list. :-)

Hi Jerry! No, you don't have to wait. In fact, it's good to go ahead and get it established and then later you can add your links to the lens. Should be a good Squidoo topic, too! tiff :)

    Hi Tiffany,
Thanks for getting back to me about Kayak Fishing Lens. Do i need to establish my newsletter and or website before you do the lens or can it be linked later?
My contract info is jerrywyatt2@msn.com. Sorry never sent it the last email. I thought it would auto show email address.
    Jerry

Hi Jerry! I don't know how to get ahold of you, unless you check back here - but yes, we can build a lens on kayak fishing. Squidoo's done away with iFrames, but we can link to yuor opt in for the newsletter - you just can't have the actual form right on your lens now. Tiff :)
