July 4th - The Impossible is Now Possible
After much serious thought, I realize that building a fence may be a bad idea after all. If you consider the cost in terms of money and the threat that it may actually impose on us as citizens, the impossible has happened with me personally on this issue. I no longer support building a fence. But please continue to read this lens, for there are many truths contained...
The only way to stop illegal immigration is to:
1) Enforce hiring laws on the books now,
2) Stop legislation planned to make it easier for businesses to hire illegals,
3) Enforce current laws that govern who can become a legal resident,
4) Stop subsidizing farmers and begin to spend money at market-value for produce, and,
5) Ship out as many illegals currently here.
A "wall" of razors won't stop big business from shipping in cheap labor on the NAFTA Superhighway.

Our research team just got off the phone with one of our key
contacts in Rep. Duncan Hunter's office and learned more
disturbing news about the border fence.
According to our contact, the fence-gutting provision that was
put into the omnibus spending bill just before Christmas also
causes the Department of Homeland Security's authority on
constructing new border fencing to expire at the end of this year.
In essence, the sun sets on the border fence on December 31 of
this year! In fact, our contact tells us the bill language
could be interpreted as a prohibition against any fence
construction after December 31 of this year.
Here's the exact provision from H.R. 2764:
"In carrying out this section, the Secretary of Homeland
Security shall --
"(i) identify the 370 miles, or other mileage determined by
the Secretary, whose authority to determine other mileage
shall expire on December 31, 2008, along the southwest
border where fencing would be most practical and
effective..."
Think about what this means...
The next President -- whether it be Obama or Clinton or
McCain -- will have no clear legal authority to build any
of the border fence at all...
We will have a pro-amnesty president who not only
doesn't want to build the double-layer fence, he or
she legally does not have to!
As a result, this fall's elections could prove less important for
border security than what you and I do right now to restore the
Secure Fence Act.
+ + Tell Congress to Restore The Secure Fence Act!
As you know, Grassfire led the fight to expose Congress' plan
to gut the Secure Fence Act last year. Now, we're pushing to
get the Act restored.

The first "North American Union" driver's license, complete with a hologram of the continent on the reverse, has been created in North Carolina."The North Carolina driver's license is 'North American Union' ready," charges William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration.
Gheen provided WND with a photo of an actual North Carolina license which clearly shows the hologram of the North American continent embedded on the reverse.
"The hologram looks exactly [like] the map of North America that is used as the background for the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America logo on the SPP website," Gheen told WND. "I object to the loss of sovereignty that is proceeding under the agreements being made by these unelected government bureaucrats who think we should be North American instead of the United States of America.

"To protest, I don't plan on applying for a North Carolina driver's license," Gheen told WND, "even though I am a resident of the state. Congress Eliminates Border Enforcement Funding!
We have one chance left to secure much needed enforcement funding but we must ACT NOW!The American people made it clear they didn't want amnesty, they wanted enforcement. But Congress didn't listen.
After the failed amnesty attempt earlier this year, Congress promised to focus on enforcing our borders and existing laws. Yet, last week, Congress stripped a $3 billion enforcement provision from the Department of Defense Authorization bill and rushed its passage, leaving the American public no opportunity to weigh in.

Two congressmen are calling for the immediate release of imprisoned Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean and a complete investigation of their prosecutor after the arrest last night of the drug smuggler at the center of the case.
Reps. Ted Poe, R-Texas, and Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., say that with the arrest of Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, Congress and the attorney general should launch a full-scale review of U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton's prosecution of the border agents.
Sutton, said Rohrabacher in a statement, "is now confirming what members of Congress and the public already figured out about Osvaldo Davila. He's a rotten habitual drug smuggler who should have been the target of Sutton's prosecution, instead of Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean."
As WND reported, Aldrete-Davila was arrested yesterday at the El Paso border crossing on charges he smuggled a second 750-pound load of marijuana into the U.S. after he was given immunity by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton

Federal Judge Block Immigration Enforcement Measures
Published: October 2, 2007A federal judge in San Francisco yesterday extended for 10 days a temporary ban on a central measure in the Bush administration's campaign to crack down on employers who hire illegal immigrants.
After a two-hour hearing, the judge, Charles R. Breyer of Federal District Court, strongly suggested that he was leaning against the government in the case.
The ban further delayed the start of a rule, which establishes steps an employer must follow after receiving a notice from the Social Security Administration, known as a no-match letter, reporting that an employee's identity information does not match the agency's records. According to the rule, originally scheduled to take effect Sept. 14, if the employee cannot clarify the mismatch within 90 days, the employer would be required to fire the worker or risk prosecution for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants. Those immigrants often provide false Social Security numbers when applying for jobs.
In an Aug. 31 decision, Judge Maxine M. Chesney, also of the San Francisco court, delayed the rule from taking effect before yesterday's hearing and barred the Social Security Administration from sending out about 141,000 no-match letters, covering 8.7 million employees, which include notices from the Department of Homeland Security about the rule.
"It is clear to me at this point there would be irreparable harm to the plaintiffs," Judge Breyer commented at the end of the hearing, rejecting the government's main argument. "It just seems to me looking at it that this is a potentially enormous burden on the employer," the judge said, adding that he would issue a ruling within 10 days.
The suit was brought by the American Civil Liberties Union, the A.F.L.-C.I.O. and several San Francisco labor organizations. They were joined by the United States Chamber of Commerce and several national small business associations.
In court documents, the business groups argued that the impact of the rule in terms of hiring and training office workers to comply with the new procedures and deadlines, and firing employees whose discrepancies were not resolved in time, would be "substantial, immediate and irreparable."
The labor organizations said that Social Security's records contained many errors that could lead to legal workers, including American citizens, being unjustly fired under the new rule.
The government countered that the rule did not represent any departure from current immigration laws or impose any new burdens on employers, but was designed to help employers by clarifying past confusion about what they had to do to comply with the law.

They are not resisting, fighting and thereby setting down a historical marker-"At this point the break became final." That's not what's happening. What conservatives and Republicans must recognize is that the White House has broken with them. What President Bush is doing, and has been doing for some time, is sundering a great political coalition. This is sad, and it holds implications not only for one political party but for the American future.
The White House doesn't need its traditional supporters anymore, because its problems are way beyond being solved by the base. And the people in the administration don't even much like the base. Desperate straits have left them liberated, and they are acting out their disdain. Leading Democrats often think their base is slightly mad but at least their heart is in the right place.
