Bulova Watches

In 1875 Joseph Bulova opens a jewelry shop in New York. In 1911 he started producing pocket watches. After the first world war the trend towards wristwatches took off and in 1919 Bulova introduced the first full line of mens jewelled wristwatches and in 1924 the first full line of womens wristwatches appeared.

In 1927 Charles Lindbergh flew solo across the atlantic from New York to Paris, Bulova ships 5,000 lone eagle watches with a picture of Charles Lindbergh enclosed. Its available the day after he lands and sells out within 3 days, over the next few years nearly 50,000 of the commenorative watches are sold.

In 1952 they develop the Accutron the first fully electronic watch. The Accutron is the only clocks onboard Air Force One. Since then Bulova has gone from strength to strength and in 2000 they celibrate 125 year anniversary with a Bulova day in New York. In 2001 The Womans wear daily's luxury survey Bulova ranked at #14 in the watch and jewelry catagory for American womens perception of the most luxurious apparel and accessory brands.
