Bundaberg Rum

Want to know more about Australia's own Bundaberg Rum?
Then you have come to the right place, below you will find out all about this great tasting dark rum, there are polls, lots of funny tv commercials to watch and lots of information for you read including where it comes from, when it first was made different products and loads more.

The history of the Rum

The Bundaberg Rum was first distilled in 1886. The idea of making rum was due to a lot of local sugar mills didn't know what to do with the left over molasses. So they organized a meeting a the local Hotel to see what they could do with with the left molasses, all other ideas proved to be too expensive. So after the big meeting in 1885 they came up with the Rum idea and they also came up with the first directors of the company. The company started with 5000 pounds in capital
They company stopped production in 1907-1914 and 1936-1939 due to Fires.
In 1961 the company introduced their mascot 'the polar bear' This seems a little odd but it is to imply that Bundaberg Rum could ward off the coldest chill..
In 2000 the company was brought by a British company. but is still distilled here in Australia.

We were in Queensland a few times on holiday, but never made it to Bundaberg. Maybe I should get my husband a bottle of this rum, as he would like a souvenir from Australia.
