Bungee Trampolines

A Bungee Trampoline combines a trampoline bouncing surface with bungee cords to provide a thrilling jumping experience. The trampoline can be just like your average backyard trampoline, with metal posts and open springs - or it can be an air trampoline like in the picture below. I personally like the air trampoline better. It is very sturdy and makes it easy to get on or off the trampoline without worrying about getting pinched by or falling through the springs of the traditional trampolines. Some companies also think the air trampolines work better. That's good enough for me!



There are multiple bungee cords attached to posts on either side of the trampoline. Depending on your weight, the Bungee Trampoline operator will attach some or all of the cords to the jumper's harness. If the operator asks your weight, please don't fudge the numbers! They only want to ensure your safety and a fun ride on the Bungee Trampoline.

The jumper is strapped into a harness that secures around the midsection and around each leg. I felt surprisingly secure in the harness, although that didn't stop me from gripping the bungee cords for dear life. :) Once you are fastened into the harness properly, the operator will raise the bungee cords toward the top of the posts to get tension in the bungee cords so they will help you reach new heights as you jump. Wheee!

Let me just say, this is not as easy as it looks. Watching from the ground doesn't quite give you the right impression of just how high the jumper is going. Between jumping and clinging to the bungee ropes, you'll get quite a workout. I've seen lots of people do backflips and frontflips on these bungee trampolines, but I was never able to get the hang of it. So brush up on your gymnastics skills if you plan to try the flips!
