Help! My Bunk Bed Is Driving Me Crazy!

Out of frustration with trying to find bedding for bunks, many people choose to use sheets alone. The fitted sheet doesn't look too bad but the draping top sheets are never on straight. The loose, hanging fabric can be a safety issue.

Regular comforters look nice on this particular bed but will they stay that way? It is not easy to get them looking this way in the first place. You would need to climb the ladder to reach the wall side for bed making. The one advantage to this kind of bedding on the bottom bunk is that it partially hides unsightly under bed storage.

In this picture, it looks like the top comforter has been tucked and the bottom is a regular comforter that hangs down over drawers. This may only have one bottom row of drawers but many beds have 2 rows of drawers. Regular comforters are not the best on any bed with under bed drawers or a trundle bed.

The color combinations look great in this dorm room however, all the bedding looks busy to me. Again, there are a couple loose comforters. It would be difficult to keep this bed looking nice.

This just isn't a very tidy looking bed. There is a sheet and throw on the top and a comforter or blanket on the bottom. It serves the purpose but it could look better.

This is the last resort. No bedding and using sleeping bags to sleep. Obviously, this isn't in a home but you could get so frustrated that you might attempt this. The only thing that would need laundered would be the sleeping bags.

Someone understands the concept of a fitted comforter and is trying to make this bedding appear to be fitted. It will need to be tucked again and again not only on the side away from the wall but also on the wall side. Who wants to tuck it once let alone over and over.

We all know that with bunk beds, you don't want gaps or anything that could cause entrapment or strangulation. You may think that's extreme but it has happened. The more tight and tidy the bunk bed, the better. Also, you don't want your child making unnecessary trips up and down the ladder at night to retreive fallen bedding.

Two comforters don't look bad but it will be hard to keep them in place.

You can even use huggers with a bed skirt on regular beds. It gives a more tailored, rounded look to the top bedding and you see more of the bed skirt.
