The Story of Burlesque
Burlesque refers to theatrical entertainment of broad and parodic humor, which usually consists of comic skits and sometimes a strip tease.With its origins in nineteenth century music hall entertainments and vaudeville, in the early twentieth century burlesque emerged as a populist blend of satire, performance art, and adult entertainment, that featured strip tease and broad comedy acts that derived their name from the low comedy aspects of the literary genre known as burlesque.
In burlesque, performers, usually female, often create elaborate sets with lush, colorful costumes, mood-appropriate music, and dramatic lighting, and may even include novelty acts, such as fire-breathing or demonstrations of unusual flexibility, to enhance the impact of their performance.
Put simply, burlesque means "in an upside down style". Like its cousin, commedia dell'arte, burlesque turns social norms head over heels. Burlesque is a style of live entertainment that encompasses pastiche, parody, and wit. The genre traditionally encompasses a variety of acts such as dancing girls, chanson singers, comedians, mime artists, and strip tease artistes, all satirical and with a saucy edge. The strip tease element of burlesque became subject to extensive local legislation, leading to a theatrical form that titillated without falling foul of censors.

The Bernie Dexter signature lingerie line is uniquely reproduced from vintage patterns and styles. About Bernie Dexter
"Bernie Dexter is an American Pin-up and cheesecake model. She lives in San Diego, California, and is married to neo-rockabilly musician Levi Dexter. Her ubiquity modeling for many vintage reproduction clothing and accessory companies in the USA, Canada and Europe has made her one of the most well-known of the contemporary vintage-influenced pin-ups. She bears a very close resemblance to legendary 50's pin-up queen Bettie Page, and has a cult following of pin-up and vintage fans.
"When she was 18, she won Miss Teen San Diego County and initially pursued a career in acting and modeling. She trained at cosmetology school, first working for Make-up Art Cosmetics and then working freelance on photoshoots. It was on one of these shoots, in 2002, that Bernie was photographed herself. She entered the photographs in the Viva Las Vegas pin-up contest and got such good feedback that she decided to concentrate on being a pin-up model.
