Obesity in America is a dangerous problem and is on the verge of an epidemic. There are serious health risks associated with being overweight or obese.

Here are a few of the, mostly preventable, diseases that you are putting yourself at risk for if you are carrying around a lot of extra pounds:

1. heart disease
2. stroke
3. diabetes
4. cancer
5. arthritis
6. hypertension

Losing weight helps to prevent and control these diseases and will offer you, not only an extended life, but a better quality of life.

The quick weight loss methods which have increased like wildfire do not furnish lasting results. More often than not, dieting methods which include dietary drinks, dietary foods and supplements, or 'fad' diet pills do not have permanent effects. More importantly, if you do have quick weight loss, the results are fleeting.

It is much better to rely on a healthy weight loss program which will offer lifetime results. You need to have realistic goals and not count on losing a lot of pounds in a short period of time.

Don't starve yourself! The key to losing weight and keeping it off is do NOT diet! Starving yourself is not a lasting method to keeping weight off. Yes, you will lose weight fast but your body will not tolerate this for long as you need food to keep up the energy you use each day.

If you get used to skipping one or two meals a day, your stored calories will be used up instead of the energy that should have been provided by your meals. So if you just eat one huge sandwich a day, it will end up on your problem areas, thighs, buttocks, hips and belly.... exactly where you don't want it!

Starvation is NOT the answer. There are much better ways to lose weight and keep it off for a lifetime.
