I have to admit... I HATE TO EXERCISE, so I look for about a zillion different ways to burn calories so that I don't have to do the same sort of exercise twice. That's the theme of this lens... all the fun ways that you can burn calories. And did you notice I said FUN!

*Take the Long Route

To collect the mail, I have looked for the longest way to get there. Same goes for the winter months. If you dress for the weather, you can burn tons of calories and at the same time notice how gorgeous a winter's day can be! Never expected it, but winter can be breathtaking!

Put it on your list... 

An easy way to burn calories is to wear them off walking... anywhere and everywhere. Clip on the pedometer the minute you get up and for the first week, monitor your daily steps. Second week, try adding 500 additional steps. Be sure to choose a pedometer that offers a cover that closes over the re-set button. It doesn't take very much to accidently hit the button and you are back at zero steps.

My Calorie Burning for This Morning 

It was my day to water the garden and I'm sure that lugging around watering cans full of water burned off just a few calories. And now my flowers are happy too. And just in case you are wondering... no my garden isn't this big ;)

*Jump Rope 

Do you remember how much fun it used to be? Okay, it might not be quite as much fun as when when you were seven, but then again, you weren't thinking about all the calories you were burning either. Sounds like a trade-off to me.

My daughter has been trying to convince me that I would find this fun. A few months ago I would have told her to forget it, but I didn't believe her when she told me that I would love running around a court hitting a little tennis ball on Sunday mornings either. Hmmm, maybe I have one smart daughter!

Sunday Morning Fun ;) 

To be honest, I really expected to hate this. It was my daughter's idea and I thought that I would try it once and that would be it. Sunday mornings on the tennis court was not my idea of fun, but to my surprise, I found that I enjoyed it.

Not that I was any good lol... I had this knack of hitting the ball OVER the enclosure and sending her scrambling after it. I had an amazing swing. The tennis ball just didn't go where it was supposed to go.

But I did improve and I began looking forward to our Sunday mornings. Unfortunately, it's been a little too chilly so far this year to hit the court, but it is coming and I just might send the ball over the enclosure just for the fun of it.

Laughing burns calories too now doesn't it. ;)

Unless You Have a Maid 

Unless you are one of the lucky ones who has someone come in or live in to clean up after you, you pretty much do your own housework. Well, if you have to do it anyway, you might as well get as much bang for the buck. When you are getting something out of the cupboard, exaggerate every movement. Reach and stretch those muscles around the waistline and do deep knee bends to get a pot from the lower cupboards. Every little bit has to help and you are doing it anyway. Might as well take advantage.

Today... I cleaned the top of my closet! And with my height or lack of, it took a lot of stretching to pull everything down!

Burning Calories in the Kitchen

Here's an easy one. When you reach for something, really reach. When you have to get something from one of the lower cupboards, put everything you have into it! Think ballerina and you will burn calories and quickly.

Keep Water on your Desk 

I know that this isn't exactly burning calories, but it will keep you from snacking because you are bored. Keep a water bottle on your desk and sip from it throughout the day. I was reading somewhere that when you think that you are hungry, what is really taking place is that you are dehydrated! Keeping that cold water on your desk should take care of the problem

Choose a Banana

If you are looking for something that is low in calories and fills you up fast, grab a banana. And if you are watching your sugar intake, eat them before they begin to get that speckled look... more sugar. The greener you can eat them, but better!

Be a Kid Again 

I don't know what made me think of it, but I remember visiting my grandmother... and all of our cousins were there. We spent the day sliding down grassy hills on pieces of cardboard. It might be time for a reunion of those cousins... Just think of the fun you could have reliving the old days and burning calories at the same time.

*One Bite Away 

If that is all you are away from taking the first bite of a chocolate bar, consider for a second how long it will take to consume the bar, and then how guilty you will feel? Sometimes, it's just not worth! So, if you are going to indulge, be sure to pick your time carefully and then savor every bite. Feeling guilty simply ruins EVERYTHING.

    I find I enjoy walking/running with my puppy. That little dog has helped me burn of many calories. Just walking or running by myself gets very boring. Thanks for the tips, I enjoyed your lens!     I'm not a 'gym person' and not really into exercise unless it has a purpose like walking from A to B, housework and gardening... those aerating sandals seem a good idea :)

    It's few people who don't hate the gym. This is more my speed, if I can't either enjoy something or accomplish something while I exercise...it probably won't happen. Luckily, I love hiking, bicycling, tennis and such. I've used the aerating sandals...it IS a workout!

Christmas Pudding... A Must 

Yes, I can't seem to get enough of this stuff, but I'm going to try to sample just maybe a quarter of a serving. I can then say that I had Christmas Pudding on Christmas Day. :)
