Bushbabies are a type of primate, so these tiny furry creatures are related to monkeys although they look more like squirrels or cats than chimps. They range in size from cat-sized down to close to mouse-sized, and are nocturnal. They often co-exist in areas of the African rainforests where there are other primates. Another name for them is "galagos."

Due to their very small size and clinging tendencies, these small primates sometimes go through "fads" where they are trendy as pets. Be careful as many countries have restrictions about owning these types of exotic animals. But most of all, bushbabies weren't meant to be pets and they really are happier living in the wild.

What do Bushbabies eat?

A bushbaby will eat insects, lizards, birds, eggs, fruit and flowers.

Learn About The Bushbaby

DLC: Animals: Lesser Bushbaby
Bushbabies, or galagos, are small, nocturnal primates which range in size from cat-sized to mouse sized.
Galago - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Galagos, also known as bushbabies, bush babies or nagapies (meaning "night monkeys" in Afrikaans), are small, nocturnal primates native to continental Africa, and make up the family Galagidae. They are sometimes included as a subfamily within the Lorisidae or Loridae.
Bush Baby
With its large round eyes and big ears, the bush baby is one of the most peculiar looking animals of the African bush. Capable of leaping great distances, it often appears to fly among the treetops.

The family Galagonidae contains 4 genera and 11 species. It is often associated with -- and sometimes included as a subfamily within -- the Loridae (which, to make matters more confusing, is also sometimes known as the Lorisidae).
The Lesser Bushbaby
The Mohol or South African Lesser Galago was, until 1979, thought to be only a subspecies of the Senegal Galago. At that time, it was elevated to full separate species status primarily based upon its distinct morphology, and the fact that it shares its habitat, but does not interbreed with the Senegal Galago.
NYS Required Annual Reporting of the Presence of Wild Animals
All persons required to report the owning, possessing or harboring of a wild animal under General Municipal Law §209-cc shall file such report with the relevant city, town or village clerk on or before April 1 of each year.
