Business Build It?

Is it time to rename Site Build It to Business Build It?

There are a lot of people who have serious misconceptions about Site Build It.

Now that there are all kinds of sites promising an easy way to build a site, you are likely to confuse one of them for what Site Build It! can do to help you build not just a website, but a successful online business.

Now, I want to be as objective as I can about this, and even though I love Site Build It! and all I've learned from using it, SBI just isn't for everyone.

There are lots of things you can't do with SBI, at least not directly. However, if you really want to extend your SBI site to include things like forums, blogs, PHP scripting, and so forth, then it can be done.

If you want to build lots of little sites for a few dollars each, SBI isn't for you.

If you want to build a successful business and are looking for time-tested advice and guidance combined with top-quality tools to help you, then I don't know of anything that compares to Site Build It!.

Is it time to rename Site Build It! to Business Build It!?

Ken Evoy wonders if he should call it Business Build It

Recently, on the members-only SiteSell forums, Ken Evoy, president of SiteSell, and creator of Site Build It posed the question about changing the name.

If you are a current SBI customer or 5 Pillar Affiliate, you can read his post called Business Build It? and follow the rest of the thread.

If you aren't, let me quote part of it...

Here's the thing...

There are so many misconceptions about Site Build It!, comparing us to regular site building or blogging or other apples-to-oranges. Sometimes I wish I could hold one huge teleseminar with every person who has ever posted one of those misconceptions in various forums. For example...

1) they can do it so much more cheaply with regular hosting

2) WordPress and regular hosting is the way to go

3) they can't do FTP with SBI! (and other limitations)

4) and on and on and on.

It would be fun to answer them all, just once, and then leave a URL to the teleseminar. But, of course, folks would not find that link and we'd still be going round and round.

Sometimes an SBIer drops in to reply to one of those posts. And guess what? When you compare traffic rankings of their site (whatever tool you use) with those who've posted, the SBIer almost always has more traffic, usually by far.

And the funny thing is... they're far less "Web-tech-savvy" than those who post those misconceptions. That's the whole point, of course.

SBI! is so much more than just a sitebuilder. With a complete, logical process that everyone can understand, with all the tools that enable you to do it, with the ability to do Content 2.0 and plug anything else you like in as your business grows ( with Infin It!) and with THESE incredible forums where everyone pitches in to help and be helped....

SITE Build It! is really BUSINESS Build It!.

The myths and misconceptions boggle my mind, how they can persist after all these years? It makes me want to ask those folks...

"So... how's BUSINESS?" Except for the gurus selling the latest and greatest, it ain't very good.

And it also makes me wonder if I should change SBI!'s name sometimes!

What do YOU think?

In a world still obsessed with putting up a site or blog cheap and quick, right NOW, would BUSINESS Build It! stand out as delivering much, much more than just a site or blog?

Perhaps SITE Build It! is not delivering the right initial message. That name was born out of Page Build It!, an old 5 Pillar tool. And times have changed a lot since then.

BUSINESS Build It!?

All the best,
Ken

Should Site Build It be called Business Build It?

No, some people will always misunderstand, go with an established brand

Alan C. says:

Keep it as SiteBuildIt because people, like me, are just learning about its existence. Changing the name may make people think it's another product. On your site put something like "SiteBuildIt, the true BusinessBuildIt tool."

johndilbeck says:

While I agree that Business Build It! is a better description of what we can do, I would not want to abandon the great reputation and brand recognition that Site Build It! has built over the years. People who really want to use the best tools to build their online business will eventually recognize all that Site Build It offers. You can't judge a book by its cover, and regardless of the name, SBI delivers the goods.

Yes, Business Build It is a much better name.
