What Are They

Business Card CD-R are sometimes refered to as "Hockey Ring" Disc. They are usually available in a white inkjet or silver top. The silver top disc's are great for labels. Do not put a label on a inkjet printable surface disc as it will eventually come off.

What Are These Used For

1.Trade Shows - Companies like to use these to stand out at a trade show. They could print their company logo with some of their information on top and then record their product catalog on the bottom. Others will simply put some small code on the recorded side so that when the disc is inserted into a computer it automatically will take the customer to their company website.

2. Realtors - I have seen realtors use these to stand out as well. They usually will design the top to look like an elegent business card. Then on the bottom maybe record some of their listings they currently have available. Another case I have seen is where they will print the top to look like an elegen business card and leave the bottom un-recorded. Then as properties come available they will video the highlights of the property and record that to the disc.

3. Others - I've seen other uses for them such as Tech Companies, Mailings / Advertising and even Party Invitations. These being different make it easy for individuals or companies to be creative.

Want some different shapes? Here is a company I found that will actually make all kinds of different shaped cd's. You have to have these "custom made". They will do the printing and recording on the disc. Check them out Here

    How Do I Record These

Any recorder with a tray should be able to record this media. What I mean by that is if you press eject on your recorder and a tray comes out ( where you put a regular disc ) then you can use this media. Some computers have a burner in them where there is only a slot ( when you press eject only the disc comes out by itself ) those type of burner can not handle the business card cd's. As for the software - simply use the software you are currently using, however keep in mind that the disc will only hold 50MB.
