There are 3 basic types of rubber stamps for business.
Wooden Hand Stamps
Self Inking Rubber Stamps
Pre Inked Rubber Stamps
Wooden Hand Stamps - Require a seperate ink stamp pad.
Self Inking Rubber Stamps - These stamps have an internal stamp pad inside the housing. The rubber stamp rests agains the stamp pad. When the stamp is pressed down, the stamp swivels down until the surface is stamped. When released the stamp swivels back up and rests againt the ink pad. These stamps are extremely convenient.
Pre Inked Rubber Stamps - No Stamp pad is required with this kind of stamp either. The stamp is infused with ink. When pressed down the stamp makes contact with the stamping surface and stamped. These stamps usually have a cover to prevent the stamp from drying out.
