Why send a business thank you card? Because networking is absolutely essential in today's business world. And the business thank you card can be very essential in our networking efforts.

Our jobs often dictate that we attend conferences, seminars or symposiums as a way of keeping abreast of the latest trends in our industry. During the course of the event, we often make new acquaintances. We will most certainly meet some fellow conference attendees. We will most likely meet some representatives from companies in our industry or from companies supplying our industry. We may even meet some of the speakers and presenters. Regardless of who we meet, we will surely be exposed to a wide range of industry talent and expertise.

When the time comes to return home, will those people be forgotten forever? For most of us, that is the case. In a relatively short amount of time, the books, notes and take-aways from the event will be filed away in the back of a file cabinet and the conference will soon become just a memory. Yes, of course, we will most certainly do the traditional ritual business card exchange. But what happens to those business cards when we get back to the office? Many of them end up just floating around in our desk drawers until we eventually throw them away. Others of us (the more organized of us) file them away neatly in our Rolodex or in our business card file - until we eventually throw them away. Still others of us (the most efficient of us) just throw them in the trash at the airport on the way home.

So the point is that most of us let the opportunity to stay in touch with new business acquaintances slip away. The business thank you card is the perfect way to allow you to keep in touch with those people. Because it is both a business communication and a personal complement, it's is great way to cultivate a business relationship.
