Business Card Printing: 5 Things You Should Remember

The simple act of exchanging your business cards with your partner or customer. But is it really that simple? Do you know that almost 90% of business cards exchanged every day end up in trash bin?

So how do you make a distinctive, memorable business card, doesn't cost a fortune in designing and printing, and yet won't get thrown away?

Check out PSPrint's promo: Save 10%, up to $75, off any product by entering code buynow for better business card printing deals in the internet.

The following tips are the simplest guidelines to make sure that your business card printing is - at the end of the day - not wasted.

Tip 1: Create That First Impression

First impression of your business card is often the deciding factor whether the person receiving it will eventually dump your card or keep it

Often said that you have to be creative and different from the rest in order for you to stand out. I would agree. If I see just another business card handed to me, if your company is not immediately giving me any benefit, then very likely you are forgotten the next day.

How about this? Matt Mullenweg's (of wordpress) says simply "1. Go to google.com. 2. Type in "Matt." 3. Press "I'm feeling lucky". Do you think it will start a conversation immediately? I betcha it would.. It helps if you keep your blog updated though!

Tip 2: Make It Easy For People To Remember You

After you have made that important first impression, make it easy for people to remember you

Always print your business card on a standard size. That way it will be easy for people to store your card, or scan it to digital format if necessary. Non standard format may not fit business card scanner or binders.

You may also put your picture in the business card. That way people will find it easy to remember how you look like.

Tip 3: Put Informative Descriptions To Your Business Card

Sometimes being different and memorable is just not enough if no one can remember what you do

I have seen this one time too many: people write on a business card the details of the person handing it over to them. Do them a favor will you? Put your corporate tag line on the card. Especially true for companies that prefer to use generic names with no particular reference to what it is that they do.

Tip 4: Go Multilingual

With all the globalized economy the trend right now, it will never hurt to have your cards go multilingual

Does your business operate in more than 1 country? If yes, print your business card in those languages. Trust me it helps. Robert Lee, Vice President of Systex, has English on one side, Chinese on the other. Ellen K. Pao, partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, has English on one, Japanese on the other.

Tip 5: Choose Professional Printer

Never ever go to the cheapest printer around the corner just to save $1.50 and end up with cheap looking business card

If your printer is not familiar with the technical terms: bleeds, safe zones and alignment, run away as fast as you can and find another printer. If you are not familiar with these terms, fret not, that's what this lens is for :)

1. Observe a 0.125 inch bleed on all sides of your business card design. Extend your business card design so that no white lines will be visible on the edges of your business card when it is trimmed to its final size.

2. Be mindful that everything in that bleed will be cut off. Place all the necessary images and text at a certain distance from the bleed to avoid it from being cut off. That is called the safe zone

3. Make sure too that all your designs or texts are aligned properly. Use templates provided by printing companies as a guide where the bleed area, the safe zone, and even the very center of the business card are.
