BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

The process of planning, co-ordinating and controlling a business is known as Business Management. Almost every business today has a business team, and no business that wants to be successful can do without one. Since the main purpose of a business is to be as profitable as possible, business management teams work hard to make sure that the business creates sufficient value for its customers and so that its revenues exceed its total cost. Business Management teams deal with almost every aspect of the business; insuring that everything runs smoothly, every department communicates and cooperates with one another, and that deadlines and assignments are met on time.

To be a successful business manager, the basic criteria is to have sharp problem-solving abilities and knowledge as well as experience in the seven functional areas of business: production, accounting, management information systems, marketing, finance, human resources and product research and development. Business managers are able to coordinate and balance the amount of time and effort spent on these activities, so that they are able to maximize the value of their business.

The amount of authority given to management teams vary from business to business. Generally, there are three Business management levels. High Level management teams are required to have an extensive knowledge of the roles of management and skills, and need to be aware of external factors and their long term effects. They are responsible for long term strategic decisions and they are required to chalk out a plan of what they think will be effective in the future. Middle Management teams need to understand certain specific managerial tasks and are generally responsible for carrying out the decisions made by the High Level management. Lower Management teams basically ensure that the plans and decisions made by the Higher and Middle level management get carried out, and make short term decisions, that have no crucial effect on the business.

Any good business manager needs to also have communication skills, since they have to deal with many people. Along with making decisions, business managers have to communicate with the business employees and freelancers; explaining them their tasks and roles in the business as well as clients; understanding the task they require from you and when they want it done.

Time management is a skill any good Business Management needs to master, as it is of the utmost importance to accomplish a task given by the client in time, and base the price for the task upon that.
