Learn tips and secrets to make you a better networker at your next business or social networking event.

Welcome to Business Networking 101

Networking skills are essential in today's business environment. We find that business is no longer conducted just in the office, but on the golf course, in restaurants and at social occasions. To those in the know, this is nothing new; but to the newcomer, this may be eye-opening. So developing effective, networking skills in both business and social situations become an invaluable asset to successful people.

Now many of you may think that this doesn't apply to you. You may say, "I have a job and work for someone else. Let the boss worry about that sorta stuff." That may be, but let me ask you one question. What if you were able to fine tune some of your existing networking skills? It is conceivable that your career could take a giant leap forward, just because you incorporated one tip that you learned and used.

Let me put it another way...

Each of us knows at least a hundred people. If you don't believe so, start going through the yellow pages starting with "A", write down the various professions that you know someone in, i.e., accountants, attorneys, etc. and then write down their names. Get the idea?

Now it's fair to say that those 100 people know a 100 people, and those 100 people know another 100 people. So in the best case scenario, you have access to 100 x 100 x 100 or 1 million people within a couple of phone calls. Do you think that there is someone within those million people who can help you with whatever it is you need? That in a nutshell is the power of networking!

Do you get it?

Therein lies the value of developing effective networking skills.

I look forward to your input and comments.
