OK I admit it: My cats are my children.
I Love

Made by Andrea Micheloni
An extremely rare moment of intimacy
Scout hates this picture
Scout (who lived with my husband and me for 6 years before Buster moved in) would rather she still had free reign in the house and wished Buster were a million miles away. Except occasionally he's fun to play with (hissing and growling all the while), when he's not pouncing on her, barring her way to the garage, her private domain, and generally making her kitty life miserable. Grr. Buster as Kitten
Buster, now 3, has never lost this expression. My husband and a neighbor found him and his littermates in a little bundle, asleep in some grass in the neighbor's backyard. Larry, the husband, told me he had a surprise, I went eagerly, saw a box, and immediately knew it was kittens. How did I know? I don't know. I chose Buster because he looked like the runt of the litter. "He needs me!" I said. Ha! Not exactly a runt, Buster.

Scout is my Beauty. At a point when my husband and I thought we'd never be able to move out of our apartment and into a house, I decided to rebel against the landlord's no-pet rule and went to the local Humane Society shelter. I had her name all picked out: Scout, after Scout Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird." I entered the cats area, turned right to go down the long aisle of kitties in cages, and there she was, at the end of the row, looking at me. That was that. She was six weeks old. Scout's Pet Names

Teeny Tiny Buster
I love Buster's baby pictures
When we adopted Buster, he was about 1 month old. His eyes were still foggy. I took a week off work to be with him, and fed him with an eye dropper. This is Baby Buster asleep after a meal (his favorite thing). It's hard to believe he was ever this small. Hi there, Big Boy
Larry's constant computer companion
I often hear loud cursing coming from Larry's office. Every time he even looks like he's going up there, Scout is ahead of him, running up the steps. Then, as soon as he sits down at his computer, she is all over the keyboard, in front of it, over it, around it, purring and rubbing (and depositing lots of cat hair). He finally has to sit back and let her have her fun before he starts to work. Buster in a Contemplative Mood

Cat Toys We Have Known and Loved
Buster and Scout are very persnickety when it comes to cat toys. Honestly, Scout's favorite toy is my fingers drumming the side of her window perch. And Buster always comes back to a knotted up plastic shopping bag (with which he plays Fetch). However, occasionally, an actual store-bought cat toy floats to the top of their overflowing toy basket.
