A Lensography of Laughter

Laughter is the best medicine. We've all heard it, or variations of it, throughout our lives. We hear it because it's true. Laughter lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, and improves our overall wellbeing.

We need to laugh.

There are times when I get so involved in what I'm doing that laughter is the farthest thing from my mind. I push myself and I push my students. That's not necessarily a bad thing but all work and no play...

Life is good, and there are reasons to laugh even in the mundane tasks of everyday life.

Laughter truly is the best medicine.

Slapstick Humor

As an avid watcher of Comedy Central, I can tell you comedy, or what is considered funny, has changed over the years. (Today words are said, even shouted, on TV and in movies that if I had dared to even whisper would have netted a mouth full of soap. While I love watching today's comedians, it's the classic slapstick humor that has me rolling on the floor laughing.

A hearty laugh gives one a dry cleaning, while a good cry is a wet wash. ---Puzant Kevork Thomajan

The Written Word

While I enjoy the Three Stooges and giggle when Laurel screws up yet again, I prefer to get my dose of humor through the written word. I love to read and I love to write. I have written five humorous mysteries, published one and am getting ready to sigh a contract for the second.

Writing humor is serious business, or so my editor keeps telling me. He may be right, but life can be hard and it can be cruel. Sometimes I need to pick up a book and get lost in an alternate reality. Annie, the heroine in My Mother's Shoes, uses gossip, scandal and murder to unearth the truth buried under a stinky pile of lies.

Hmmm, let me think about that for a minute -- it varies from day to day -- sometimes what I read online makes me laugh! Sometimes my hubby makes me laugh!

Your right - we all need a good laugh sometimes. Like you I think some of the funniest things are the old classics. Personally I love Monty Python. Great lens.
