Butt Acne

Even young children appreciate how sensitive the skin of the buttocks can be. It is that sensitivity, combined with the awkward location of the buttocks that creates added problems for anyone with an acne condition in that region of the body. A case of butt acne begins with an innocent looking blemish. That blemish then develops into an area of tiny pimples. Those pimples become filled with pus. As pressure is placed on those pimples they start to leak. Eventually an open lesion forms in some area of the buttocks.

A person's choice of underwear offers some control over the frequency with which sweat can form in the region where a flare-up of butt acne might occur. Synthetic fibers should be avoided. Natural fibers should be used in wisely selected underwear.

Medications that contain oil or perfume should not be used on skin that might erupt into a case of butt acne. The best butt acne treatment is the one that has been recommended for body acne. The affected area must be cleaned with a salicylic acid or peroxide pad. Then the affected skin should be covered with a moisturizer.
