Butterscotch Crunchies Recipe

When I was in college in Iowa City, Iowa, I used to walk by a candy store on the way to my part-time job. Sometimes I would stop in and pick up a Butterscotch Crunchie, which was similar to a Rice Krispie Treat but with a butterscotch and peanut butter flavor. I found them quite addicting but I was a poor college student at that time, so they were only an occasional indulgence.
I don't remember where it was that I saw this recipe some years later, but I tried it and it was just like the Butterscotch Crunchies that I remembered. My family loves these. The Butterscotch Crunchie recipe has only three ingredients. I think you will find it pretty easy to make.

Butterscotch Crunchies

With Chocolate on top or not?

I prefer Butterscotch Crunchies with no chocolate on top. I do love chocolate but in this case I like the butterscotch and peanut butter flavors to be predominant.

I substituted Cheerios for the Rice Krispies and they turned out pretty good! The original would be better, but I used what I had on hand. I think I'll stay off the bathroom scales for the next few days. . .
