Do you want to get started on Squidoo and need a little help ?

Well, Jaguar Julie to the rescue! Why not buy one of Jaguar Julie's developed lenses? While many are not for sale and will probably never be for sale -- no matter what the price as they are PRICELESS -- there are at the minimum 100 lenses that can be yours.

Take a look at my variety of lenses and let me know which one you are interested in purchasing. Prices range from $125-$250 USD.

Why am I doing this? All the women in my family have always been more than active caring for 'many' animals. One of my sisters now has some 8 cats and 4 dogs that she cares for as she rescued them from the homeless shelter where she works. There is something in our genes that make us caregivers with respect to the homeless and unwanted pets.

On Friday, March 28th, 2008, I had a one-half hour phone call with an officer from my county. It was a very sobering conversation as we discussed the services of the Humane Society, Animal Care and Control, Caboodle Ranch, and First Coast No More Homeless Pets [FCNMHP]. It was my call to action!

P.S. Proceeds from a lens purchase price pay for spaying / neutering fees by FCNMHP and royalties from book purchases are donated directly to FCNMHP.

I -- Background Information

Why am I selling some of my many lenses?

We've had a population explosion ...

Over the past year, we have witnessed a 'population explosion' in our neighborhood. Neighbors have been pitted against other neighbors in the 'battle' to manage the feral cat colony.

We've seen at the minimum 4 females ready to deliver. We've called every possible animal care service that is available in our county and not been 100% satisfied with the news.

We are in a quandry and find ourselves a bit limited as to viable options.

Precious + 5 -- we adopted out her kittens

SAD DAY : Animal Care & Control

Thursday, April 24, 2008

We rented two Havahart cat traps from our local Animal Care & Control [AC&C] for $40 each and used them to capture the 3 oldest and loudest male feral tom cats :: Old Man Blackie, Big Daddy Orange, and Papa Smurf/Fluffy.

It took us 3 different trips over the AC&C on the northside of town to deliver these poor guys. We actually made a trip on the morning and afternoon of Wednesday, April 23rd, and a 3rd trip on the morning of Thursday, April 24th. There seems to be a glimmer of hope for Fluffy in that the intake girl said he looked rather "like a stray" rather than a straight feral.

FREEDOM : 2 more spayed females

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Well, our work is continuing. It was on 'tax day' that we again got up early, grabbed the two carriers and nets. Poor cats ... at least this time hubby didn't put on the motorcycle helmet that makes him look like Darth Vader for sure.

This time, trying to coax the rascals into the carriers was a bit easier in that we KNEW what to EXPECT! Yep, up the screens again -- those screens are so torn up!! Hubby grabbed the ladder and was able to nab Callie. Next, we went for Blackie #2 [I have got to come up with a better name].

The 20-25 minute trip into Orange Park to the vet's wasn't as bad as the previous trip. Callie and Blackie #2 weren't as vocal.

This makes 5 spayed females in April 2008 so far!

FREEDOM : 3 Spayed Pregnant Females ...

Saturday, April 12, 2008

Well, the 3 spayed pregnant females gained their liberty! Interestingly enough, Pug was comfy in the pet bed and did not want to join Spot and Blackie as they ambled away to join the feral cat colony after more than 7 days of recovery.

HOWEVER, now that we have cleaned up the bedding and are making way for the next 2 that are scheduled for spaying/neutering on April 15th, something new to deal with!

Our two male tabbies appear to not be feeling well. Bandit, the older male has the runs and has been ceremoniously depositing them on the futon to let us know. And, Tigger who was neutered in January seems to have either an upper respiratory distress or trying very unsuccessfully to pass a hairball.

I'm hoping to at the least get Tigger checked out today and then perhaps Bandit.

A bit of info on FCNMHP

FCNMHP was founded in 2001 when Rick DuCharme, founder and president, developed the SpayJax program in response to a request by the City of Jacksonville for a city funded spay/neuter program. Following SpayJax, SpayNassau was developed along with two other low-cost programs. In 2006, our Trap-Neuter-Return program was developed to offer low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for feral and stray cats.

The mission of First Coast No More Homeless Pets (FCNMHP) is to eliminate the killing of dogs and cats in our community through free and low-cost spay and neuter programs. Spay and Neuter Programs are the only proven method for controlling the pet overpopulation crisis! As more surgeries occur, the shelter and euthanasia rates decrease. We have a truly exceptional plan to end the needless killing of adoptable pets. We are committed to reaching those who need our assistance. --FCNMHP.

Excellent lens! I have made an effort for ferals, spaying and neutering over 25! I have personally adopted out over 30 kittens in the past few years.

Living in a rural community, cats are necessary, however educating the community on catch, fix and release has been a challenge I am willing to take on! Now that the locals are spayed and neutered, we just have happier and healthier outdoor companions who are not constantly having kittens (although I do miss all the kittens :)

Thank you for all of your efforts and sharing this information!

Greetings Julie !
I so connected with this lens...
I took responsibility for my local ferals, had them all spayed and neutered and then the city of Los Angeles would not honor the payment coupons to the Vet as he was in Glendale, a separately incorporated city within greater Los Angeles, So I ended up paying for it all.
Now they are not breeding of control and greet me everyday when I feed them.
I am a Bird Rescue, helping cats as well !!
Warm wishes,
Karen
