BUY GOODS MADE IN THE USA -- BRING OUR JOBS BACK HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This lens is about me, this lens is about you. This lens is about anyone who lives in this great country THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!About a month ago my husband was watching the news and saw a broadcast by Diane Sawyer. She said in her broadcast that if everyone just bought one gift this holiday season that was made in the USA we would create thousands of jobs. I thought well my husband is retired military and this is "OUR COUNTRY". So I had no problem with wanting to do our part. So we set out to the stores in this small town of Dover Delaware in search of some gifts for Christmas "MADE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". We walked into Macys, well I thought that certainly wouldn't be a problem. I was looking for clothing first. Rack after rack, tag after tag, I couldn't believe it, I couldn't find anything made in the USA. WHAT HAPPENED???????????????? Finally I asked a sales lady, do you have anything made in the USA, she said not that I am aware of. Another patron when I explained to the sales lady my plight and the broadcast my husband saw, she said to me. "Good luck to you with that, I already tried." I too saw the broad cast.
Well just when I thought we had to move on to another store which we did, at the check out was insulated tumblers, with the marking on the bottom, 'MADE IN AMERICA'. Yes, we bought two. Not only that but we found some Nike socks made in the United States. Not all Nike socks are but some of them are. We bought a pack of them too, my son could use a USA Christmas gift.
Okay moving on I did find a short sleeved sweater at a small chain at the mall called Boscov's, and it was made by Alfred Drummer. But it is the only thing we found on the rack of Mr. Drummers clothing line made in the USA. All other items, you guessed it, not made in our country. I did purchase the sweater however, Merry Christmas to me from my sweet hubby.
Then after we went to store after store, after store and label after label after label, we went to our Base Exchange, surely they would have something. We really along with a very patriotic sales lady looked through their entire clothing line and this is all we found.. FOX River military boot socks PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA!!! Hubby got a pack of socks. Then we found some Sport Casual Docker socks, so hubby got some more socks. We were tired and exhausted, and very discouraged, but yet very enligtened.
Now it became clear why jobs are so hard to find. We aren't making anything here in our country or let me correct myself we aren't making alot.
I was interested to see just how many things in my closet were "MADE IN THE USA". Sadly and embarrasingly enough I found one old Winnie the Pooh sweatshirt. However, now all the Disney clothing I looked at was made somewhere else now not the USA.
So the love this wonderful country is what I dedicate this lens to. Yes, this is my country, so I want to do my part to bring our jobs for own people back home.
I realize that squidoo is world wide, and I urge those from other countries who might read this to buy things made in your own country to bring your jobs to your country also to create jobs.
But I am a proud American, and I am urging my fellow Americans to 'BUY ONLY MADE IN THE USA". Hopefully this will eventually make the manufacturers return their factories to "OUR GREAT COUNTRY". If the Americans will not buy goods made in other countries, then it WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay I know what your thinking, but there is so very little in the stores. So I did my research on the internet and this is what I found. Yes, our American companies are still out there in small numbers. But we have been reduced to the internet, and mail order. So that is where we start my fellow Americans. I personally will not buy another garment unless it is made right here in this country.
I AM BOYCOTTING, WILL YOU JOIN ME??????
So this lens is dediciated really to all of us. It appears by the labels we gave our manufacuring away. WILL YOU JOIN ME ---LET'S TRY TO TAKE IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just remember it won't do the manufacturers any good to put the garments on the rack made in other countries if the American people won't buy it..
