In 1848 at the age of 23 Louis Brandt set up an assembly workshop, to assemble precision pocket watches from componants shipped to his workshop. In 1879 he died and his two sons took over the business and because of irratic supply and quality of componants decided to manufacture watches themselves.
In 1885 they produced the Omega "LABRADOR" range of gents watches and by 1892 they produced the first minuite repeater capable of sounding the "HOURS" and "QUARTER HOURS" at the touch of a button. In 1901 they made a watch especially for motorcycles that could be attached to the gas tank.
In 1909 the omega was responsible for timekeeping at the Gorden-Bennett Cup, International Ballon race. In 1917 they made the first watch which could be read by fingers, for people with impaired sight. In 1929 they launched the anti-shock watch called the "OMEGA ARMURE".

History of the Omega continued
In 1932 came the diving watch called the Omega Marine. In 1934 when Amelia Earhart crossed the atlantic she insisted on having Omega Chronographs in the cockpit of the aircart. In 1948 the Omega Seamaster made its appearance, it was the first stop watch in a robust, water resistant housing. In 1949 the omega race camera appeared and so did the photo-finish in races.In 1957 the Omega Speedmaster was made for sport and engineering and in 1969 became the first and only watch to land on the moon. In 1974 the marine chronometer was the worlds first wristwatch marine chronometer and in 1994 they made the worlds first self-winding wrist watch.
The Latest James Bond movie Casino Royale, Bond's watch is an Omega Seamaster, but if you buy one you won't get the extras that he does.
