Information on Seahorses

Seahorses are amazing creatures that are a nice addition to any saltwater tank. Peaceful and serene, seahorses add grace and elegance to your tank.

Pet Seahorses require a special aquarium set-up. They need to have slow moving water and something to hook their tails on, like an artificial plant or small artificial coral. To feed them they will eat live brine shrimp, frozen brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp.

They should not be kept in an aquarium stocked with the some of the usual saltwater fish, as those fish move too quickly and your Seahorses might starve, but they are the ideal tank mates for Pipefish. Research the requirements of any compatible animals you want to add to the seahorse tank before you add them.

Seahorses, maintained in a tank with good water quality and fed a proper diet may be expected to live for several years.
