Seiko Watches

Seiko were established in 1881 and by 1892 they were producing wall clocks, it was not until 1895 that they started making fob watches. By 1913 they produced their first wrist watch and in 1924 Seiko become the brand name on all their watchs and clocks. In 1955 they produced their first self winding watch and this followed in 1958 when they started to use quartz in clocks.
It was not until 1969 that they made the world's first quartz wrist watch called the Seiko Astron. In 1973 they produced the world's first LCD watch with a six digit display and in 1983 they made the world's first "Talking" clock. The next milestone was in 1990 when they produced the Seiko "Scubamaster" the world's first computerized divers watch this was followed in 1998 by the Seiko "Thermic" which is the world's first watch driven by body heat.
