My girlfriend decided to buy Chantix, but she continued to smoke while taking the daily dosage. Chantix kept the nicotine from uptaking into her system. After a week she got tired of smoking without the positive reinforcement of the nicotine and she stopped smoking.
It's been two months since she started Chantix and it's been 7 weeks since her last cigarette. She smoked for over 20 years and tried to quit several times using other methods. This is the only thing that worked for her.
My girlfriend said out of everywhere she looked online, she concluded that Kwikmed Pharmacy has the best price online and was the most hassle free.
Updates
After witnessing my girlfriend's success with Chantix, my mom has decided to buy Chantix now for her New Year's resolution - she wants to get a head start on it. She has been smoking for almost 40 years! I'll post updates as the results come in... hopefully my brother comes on board next.
May 30, 2009
My mom quit smoking two days ago. My dad tried to help her quit for years before he passed. She tried but just couldn't do it even with patches and other meds. I know he'd be proud of her. My brother isn't on Chantix yet. He's chewing tobacco instead now. Yeah, not the best alternative, but at least he's aware he should do something. I'll keep you posted.

Chantix Testimonials

"I set my quit day at 2 weeks from the day that I started Chantix. At the end of the first week, I was smoking about a half of what I normally smoke. I didn't think about smoking much. When the end of 2 weeks came, I could CHOOSE not to smoke! Really, cigarettes just tasted aweful to me, there was no pleasure in even smoking one! just YUK!" -Randy
"I've been taking Chantex for a month! I've stumbled a couple of times. I'm learning to cope without cigs in my life. I've really started to realize that there are a lot of other good things to turn to rather than nicotine. Overall Chantex has been a miracle." -HR
"I'm a 35-year smoker...There's a 7-day start up with the med and you are allowed to smoke during that time period. Come day seven I smoked my last cig. I've been free for a week now! I haven't suffered the 'heebie-jeebies' this time around like I have before with other methods - you name it I've tried it. The big problem I'm dealing with (on a scale of 1 to 100 it is only a 5) is learning to fight the ritual of having a smoke in the morning, while driving, during breaks, and other times. I'm going to succeed this time. About time really." -Darin
"Days 1-7 I thought that this isn't going to work - like the other things I've tried. Day 8, I didn't even feel like smoking. Wow I couldn't believe I wasn't screaming at everyone around me. I'm smoke free for 3 weeks now and I'm very excited about this medication." -Roberta

This is my third day on Chantix. I've smoked for 36 years. I've quit a few times. Two times when I was I pregnant. The third pregnancy I smoked like a freight train. Third time I quit using Zyban. Quit for one year. Got mad one night and stupidly picked them up again. Fourth time I quit cold turkey. That lasted for six months or so. Second grandchild was born two weeks ago today and I'm determined to quit and stay quit this time. I've had no side effects so far. Maybe hyped me up to some degree. After reading these postings, it has made me feel more confident. Seems like I'm not craving them as much already. I start my two doses a day tomorrow. My husband smokes and dips, so I hope his smoking in front of me doesn't bother me. He says he wants to do the Chantix, but he we'll see. He's never tried to quit in his 38 years of smoking and dipping. I'll try to update.

My doctor suggested Chantix after Zyban had failed. I had tried all the nicotine replacement therapies. I have been smoking for 23 years and tried to quit many times. I am now on day 45 with Chantix. I relapsed twice early on but the cigarettes tasted terrible. I am now a month without smoking. Best of luck to all trying to quit!

This is my second day using Chantix to stop using chewing tobacco. I now seem to get no satisfaction or "high" from chewing. It just feels like I need a "chew". I have tried the nicotine gum and Zyban in the past, but went back to Skoal Chewing .
I have to admit it does what it says it will. I think quitting will work this time. With the new Taxes on Tobacco, I can't afford to continue this bad habit like I have for the last 30 years. My wife and kids will have to get use to my grumpiness for the next few days.

I smoked for 39 1/2 years...and living in New York I just couldn't afford smokes any more, so I was planning and saying 'I'll quit soon..." then I had heart surgery after a heart attack scare and my cardiologist, who nicknamed me "walking death" by the way, really got in my face after surgery and said: "you either quit, or this is probably the last time I will see you, 'cause you WILL die!" On the Chantix as soon as I got home from the hospital...my God it has been a godsend...54 days smoke free today, and other than driving my car, and even that is no biggie, I have NO desire...Yeee Haaaa

My Boyfriend and I Started Chantix January 1st. We stopped buying cigs the day before. The first two days I raided the trash, ashtrays and even looked in the driveway looking for buts. January 5th I felt terrible all day then I started puking and shitting this continued for 2 days. I am tired...so tired. I havent smoked in three days. I have been a smoker for 32 years. I have tried the patch, the cold turkey, the wellbutrin, the patch,...the gum...this is the EASIEST quitting smoking has ever been. I don't plan on stopping the chantix--these side effects are nothing compaired to the horrific side affects of dying from Lung Cancer

July 26 2007 I decided to quit, didn't have a smoke all day. July 27 2007 I awoke and said "OMFG I'm NOT gonna make it!" So I called my doc office told them what I was attempting to do and they said "Come on in!" That day my doc gave me a script for CHANTIX. It's May 18 2008 and I'm still smoke free. Wanting to quit wasn't enough for me, I needed help and CHANTIX was there. During the first week I developed a sore throat that stayed with me for about six months but it went away.I don't know if it was a side effect but I feel and SMELL so much better. Look for me @ pogo.com AKA Mommydearest8589 I swear by CHANTIX!!

I was a smoker for 28 yrs.I took the pills for only 2 weeks, and am now smoke free. Along with taking the pills, try changing some of the habits you use for smoking-you always smoke at certain times and places, alter them. I have moments, but they are rare, and pass very quickly. Thank you chantix!!!

I wish this stuff was around when I quit, cold turkey was brutal. My husband has been on Chantix for about 3 weeks. Previous attempts to quit weren't pretty and didn't stick, this has been totally different. After smoking for 32 years he's cig-free for 15 days now. Couldn't be more proud of him.

I smoked for 33 years. Went to Schick smoking center, tried the gum, patches NO LUCK! My doctor told me about Chantrix. That was 28 days ago and I haven't touched a cigarette yet. I won't say I don't have my moments but they pass really quick and this time its forever! I owe Chantrix my life!
Chantix FAQ's
WHO MAKES CHANTIX?Pfizer.
HOW DOES CHANTIX WORK?
In short, Chantix works in two ways: by cutting the pleasure of smoking and by reducing the withdrawal symptoms that lead smokers to light up over and over again.
HOW LONG DO I TAKE CHANTIX?
Treatment is different for everyone, but the average is a month. You can keep smoking until you feel ready, so there's no cold turkey.
CAN I BUY CHANTIX ONLINE?
Yes, but if you're going to buy Chantix online, I highly recommend KwikMed. They're the cheapest online, they don't require a prescription, they ship really fast, it's easy to buy, they don't sell generic "chantix" or ship to US residents illegally like Canadian merchants. (See below for price comparison sheet.)
ARE COUPONS AVAILABLE FOR CHANTIX?
No. There were limited discounts in 2006 when it was first released, but not anymore.
