Buying a Stand Alone Refrigerator for Supplemental Storage

When buying a second refrigerator for home, sometimes it makes sense to purchase a freezerless all refrigeration rather than the traditional combination fridge-freezer.

This article addresses the advantages of these products.

Standard Refrigerators - The Problem

The problem with standard refrigerators for sale is that they are mostly fridge-freezers. Fridge freezers are great for those people living alone or for those with a small sized family. However, they are not enough for those who require larger storage. Standard fridge-freezers usually have a height of 61 inches to 69 inches and usually have a width of 28 to 36 inches. These are the usual refrigerator dimensions of the standard fridge freezers, but the problem with this is that they are divided into two: the fridge and the freezer.

Insufficient Freezer Storage

The freezer part of these standard refrigerators is just very small box storage not bigger than a small cooler. The rest of the space is left for the fridge part. Therefore, if you have a big family and requires many food items stored in the freezer like meats and other frozen items, then the space wouldn't be enough. The same goes for the fridge since you would require a lot of storage for fruits and vegetables, beverages and other types of food ingredients and items, which the standard refrigerator can't provide. Therefore, you might need additional storage for freezers and or fridge.

Buy An Additional Refrigerator

One way to solve this problem is to buy a second refrigerator. Instead of purchasing another fridge-freezer, opt for specialized refrigerators instead. If you require more storage for frozen items, then you can buy a refrigerator with just a freezer. In addition, if you need more storage for unfrozen food items, then purchase an addition freezerless refrigerator.

Fridge Freezer Purchase Options

There are many freezer refrigerators sold in the market today. You can purchase a freestanding freezer or a deep chest freezer. Free standing freezers are great since they do not occupy much space in the household unlike the deep chest freezers, which would eat up a huge area in your kitchen. However, freestanding freezers have less storage room than deep chest freezers wherein you can place many items that needs freezing. Of course, this would entirely depend on your needs. Therefore, if you don't require that much storage, a freestanding freezer would do just fine.

Choose Freezerless Refrigerators

As for freezerless refrigerators, there are also many that you can choose from. There are compact freezerless refrigerators and free standing refrigerators too. They provide more storage for fruits and vegetables and other produce as well as beverages and other food items that requires to be kept in a cold temperature but not in a freezer. Freezerless refrigerators are more organized since they provide more room for full pan shelves, which you can use to store bulk items, that doesn't require freezing.

In Summation

The freezerless refrigerator and different types of standalone freezers are great as second refrigerators in any household. They can also be used in many food business establishments.
