Where to Find Cosmetics and Perfume Online

If you're like me, you shop online a lot. I buy everything from books to electronics online. But for some reason, when it comes to clothes and makeup, I still tend to head to the mall, spending hours browsing for what I want. That's great when I'm not sure what I want. I love to go to Sephora and smell the different perfumes when looking for a new scent, or get a close look at different makeup. But a lot of the time I buy the same favorite products. All that shopping in a brick-and-mortar store really gets me is a headache and a couple hours wasted. No more. I've found some great sites where I can buy the products I like for low prices.

Finding Beauty Deals Online

The first thing to know about buying cosmetics, perfume, or anything else online is that there's probably not one site that always has the best price. Just because a certain site had the best price the last time you bought your product doesn't mean that it has the best price now. Because different sites, just like different stores, are constantly beginning and ending different sales, you should always run at least a quick check to see if there's a better deal elsewhere. Also, when comparing prices for online beauty buys, don't forget to include shipping costs in your calculations. Look for sites that offer free or flat fee shipping, depending on how much you intend to spend. Google has a great product search that let's you compare prices at many different online retailers instantly. Of course, Google only includes certain retailers in their results, so you should also develop a list of trusted sites of your own. Don't forget to find out if your favorite brick-and-mortar retailer also has a web store and include it on your list if so. Below, I've listed some of my favorite retailers.

Beauty Buys on Amazon

Amazon can be a great place to shop for cosmetics and perfume just as it's a great place to shop for books and music. You can shop by category or brand name. The categories are even broken down well into subcategories so you can find exactly what you need fairly quickly. The user reviews are also helpful. The one thing I'd watch out for, though, is the seller name. Don't assume that you'll be getting the product straight from Amazon. And if the seller is someone other than Amazon, make sure to read through the seller's ratings and reviews very carefully. I recently bought some of my favorite perfume from a second party through Amazon. When the perfume arrived, the bottle was chipped, the package was taped shut with Scotch tape, and the perfume inside had imperfections in it. Someone had rebottled some inferior perfume in my brand's bottle. Below are some products that I buy regularly from Amazon.

Personal Favorites for Beauty Products

Jane Iredale mineral makeupIn addition to Amazon, I have a few other sites I buy from regularly. One of my favorite brands of makeup is Jane Iredale mineral makeup, which I like to buy from the linked store. Since I buy a lot of different products by Jane Iredale, I like to get them from this site because then I don't have to deal with different sellers for each item. Plus, the prices are generally the same as Amazon offers, and they frequently offer free shipping. Conveniently, the store also sells my favorite foundation and perfume.

Another site I frequently buy from sells another favorite line, mixed chicks hair products. They offer a lot of products I haven't been able to find at my local pharmacy. You can also find things like these hair clipper sets pretty inexpensively, as well as these hair treatments for men. If you need any hair products that are out of the ordinary, this is a great site.

Discontinued Perfume

PerfumeThis last tip, and my current favorite, came from my brother in Africa, actually. I saw him in Paris recently. I'd been looking for my favorite perfume that I'd first bought there a few years ago. I hadn't been able to find it recently in the States, and it turned out it was out of production. I had even tried ordering it from an Amazon seller, and the seller had sent me a knock-off rebottled in the brand's packaging. Anyway, my brother suggested I get a company to match the scent for me. He said he'd used scent matchers frequently and had great results. I'm still waiting for my first bottle from ScentMatchers.com.

Discontinued Perfume on eBay

Another place to find your favorite perfume that's been discontinued by the manufacturer is eBay. Here's just a sampling of some of the items you can find available right now.
